Motorbiking in the Fog

What was supposed to be a quick off-road ride turned into a muddy mess as I learned the hard way that picking a bike up from the mud isn’t quite the same as lifting it off solid ground! After several failed attempts, a lot of mud, and some bruised pride, I returned to base for some much-needed recovery tips. But the adventure didn’t stop there. Just as I thought I was in the clear, the weather had other plans. Oh this takes me back. About 20 years ago I was working for an outsourcing firm that was doing work for a steel company down in Wales. I was based in Birmingham, but I was told I had to get down to Swansea for a meet & greet with the client, so I was like "Great! It's a lovely March morning, I'll go on my motorbike!", got on my 1997 CB500 & set off. I didn't want to go via motorway the whole way so I went by the A-roads & missed out Bristol, going up over the mountains. Fog came in, then freezing fog. Ice formed all over the road - it looked like snow though no snow had fallen. I made it into Swansea looking like a snowman, scraping ice off my visor every few seconds.

It is terrifying, fully sympathise.

That icy drop in temperature is all too well known. Its that cold that seeps into your bones and you can feel it no matter how much you try to warm up. That fog coming down the mountainside was quite creepy. I am glad you made it through safely. Well done sis! You're a star!
