The way Lara is looking at him towards the end… She’s one of those people who don’t need to speak to express their feelings.
That has always stood out when watching Lara singing or during interviews. When she’s talking about something or someone she’s passionate about, you can tell by her eyes.
In a more “recent” performance, watch (if not already done) the Microphone show where Lara and an acoustic band reinterpreted “Je t’aime” in a more jazzy soft version. Gorgeous version in my book. That’s a given.
But before the song, the show host (and singer) is giving a short speech about Lara. The way she’s looking at him at one point is expressing pure gratitude and respect, without saying a single word.

There was a period in Lara's life when she was not perceived in Europe(in particular in France), I can't understand HOW? HOW? HOOOW???? - was it possible not to see, not to hear her splendor? How can not love her? Someone already wrote in the comments: it's enough for her to just sing the phone directory) Once you hear Lara, it is impossible to forget her wonderful voice, not to mention the fact that when you see her, you understand how everything is harmonious in her: voice, appearance, beauty of the soul)

Lara sang Serge Lama's song "je suis malade", so he sang Lara's song "je t'aime"

From what I can gather from other interviews and comments and basically rumours (lol) is that this was basically an apology from Serge to Lara. He had deeply hurt her somehow and he used her song and his incredible talent with lyrics to apologize. This is why she’s so moved. In interviews following this one, many people ask her why she was so touched, and of course Lara being a classy respectful person never really explains, just saying “you can’t share everything on TV”... which to me means something happened in their personal lives that really affected/hurt her.
