Thanks to a $5.6 million grant from the National Institutes of Health, a University of Kentucky College of Medicine team will study the culprit behind thoracic aortic aneurysms, which could lead to a treatment for the potentially deadly disease.

Thank you for your research, it gives me hope for a cure, or at the very least, a more effective treatment in the near future. I'm 29 with a severe case of Marfans syndrome and diagnosed with multiple aortic aneurysms. Currently I'm recovering from a second aortic repair operation within the past few years. It's a good feeling to know that research is being conducted to potentially alleviate the suffering of people caused by this heart disease.
