It's hard dealing with alcoholism. When you quit heroin, or drugs, it's easier to not be around them. Just separate yourself from people places and things involved with drugs. But with alcohol, it's everywhere. Everywhere you go. Imagine quitting heroin, and then going into the store and seeing billboards for heroin on sale. Watching a game on TV and seeing heroin commercials. Playing a gig and seeing fans in the crowd shooting up. That's what alcoholics deal with everyday. It's not an excuse, but you can kind of understand.

I see many saying the rest of the band's statement is disrespectful bc Alexi isn't alive anymore. Actually this was the best way they could've come out with the truth.

They didn't do it when Bodom split, because that would've just caused unnecessary drama while Alexi was still drinking.

They thought it was Alexi's job to tell the truth when he was ready and sober. That sadly never happened and the guys were tired of keeping things secret, so they explained things in the most honest and respectful way possible.

They by no means slam Alexi, but just told things as how they felt it at the time. In the long form interview they continuously praised his talent and cherised their friendship.

There is no need to badmouth Alexi or any other bandmates. Everyone is an invidual and feels everything their own way. Alexi was sick and knew many years before that he is going to die because of his addictions. We are all human. Flawed.

If Alexis had lied. Why didn't they ask him to correct it, why didn't they come out to contradict him when he was alive, maybe because they thought at the time that if they did, they would embarrass him. But it's odd that he didn't have the same problems with his new band. When I listen to his latest work. I understand that, everyone, including himself, was disciplined and had worked hard. How is that possible? When they said, he didn't even want to warm up anymore.
If he was self-destructive, why didn't he continue his self-destructive behavior in b.a.m. But instead, his latest music shows signs that he had become a better musician? I've heard and read things. To me, he was the soul of C.O.B. He gave his heart to the band, loved those guys like brothers. He suffered when he was struggling with his addiction (he says it on the album Hexed). He didn't seem like, a person who would just tear it all down for no reason and without caring. But a spontaneous person, who gave his heart to music, people and his dreams. I think he wouldn't want people to judge and speak ill of or attack people who were his. Whether it was friends, band members, family or ex and current spouses. And I don't think I have any right, to criticize situations and people, when I wasn't in front of them. But I'm still shocked by the breakup of the band and the sudden death of the band. And my mind is tormented by a photo of Alexis in his last years that I saw on the internet. His face expressionless, but his eyes full of pain. Very emotional pain, like his soul was suffering. And then a thought crosses my mind: "Who big asshole could have hurt him so badly?"
(I don't mean the members of the cob, there is no implication).

No one ever wants to quit fun and feels good but gets to a point where one needs to drink.
It's a hard road.
I know I feel like the world is less without met him or even seen them live.

Glad I never got into drinking or drugs. It’s taken away too many greats over time.

Cob saved me from losing interest in death metal. At the time, I never heard the blend of death vocals combined with power metal.

RIP Alexi laiho

If your going to speak of an accomplished band such as Bodom. You might want to get your pronunciation correct eh?!

Interesting, his cause of death seems to be private out of respect, I suspect it may have been an overdose of sorts.

Jeff Hanneman from Slayer passed from a spider bite complication, but in truthit was the alcohol that killed him.

RIP both those guitar legends
