genuine disclaimer: mercury if not handled properly is nearly lethal, especially the fumes which are incredibly easy to breathe in. Even going outside, make sure you dont stand down wind of the fumes. Same with nitric acid, it is highly corrosive and if he used a slightly higher concentration his hands would of been lit on fire upon contact with it. The kind of glove he is wearing is usually standard except for when you are handling nitric acid because its able to light it on fire.

As a chemist, I have to say that this video is extremely hard to watch. The careless handling of chemicals, as if they were completely harmless, is alarming. The so-called “protective” clothing he’s using offers hardly any real protection. Such negligence can easily lead to serious injury—this is a real hazard that’s being seriously underestimated here.

Doing it outside is a good practice.
Please use a glass rod to transfer the liquid, that way you would not spill the acid on your table.
You should know beforehand that mixing mercury and nitric acid generate a lot of nitrogen dioxide.
You also need to pre-measure correct amount of mercury with another beaker instead of pouring it directly into nitric acid.
Also, detonating mercury fulminate generate mercury vapor, that's why I don't make it.
Mercury will pollute the land near your house.
There are primary explosives way safer than mercury salts or lead salts.
