Do a short for pulloffs and string noise? I feel like my pulloff finger always hits another string and my attempts at muting are well, moot.

I damaged the nerve of my fingertip (Ring finger) badly, and there happens to be an awful shooting pain whenever I try to play. Especially while pressing down on the frets during soloing. Any tips on how to cure such injury? I have almost given up on the instrument :/
