In the 1970s, the first human-made probes flew to the outer reaches of the solar system and passed Jupiter. For the first time, scientists saw the largest and heaviest planet in the solar system up close. This marked the beginning of intensive exploration of the gas giant.

No scientist has ever been on Jupiter for 43 years or even 43 seconds.

I wonder.. If Jupiter had somehow become fat enough to become a star, would our solar system have even been possible? I know there are binary stars out there some with planets i'm sure, but imo, I don't think Earth would have existed in the conditions we to know today to harbor life. We're really lucky.

If the heat from the sun determines the chemical composition of the galaxies, solids liquids and gasses then black holes at the centre of galaxies also have to determine the chemical composition of galaxies .

In my mid teens, 76-8 ish, I read a book titled The Jupiter Effect. It seemed that Jupiter could haul in errant comets, shepherd asteroids, raise great generals, cause earthquakes here, and many other fanciful theories. Plate tectonics I believe was a then fairly new subject, but seemed very plausible to me at the time. Raising great generals, well . . . By coincidence perhaps Jupiter was in a particular patch of sky. However, even then I was astrology sceptical. Horoscopes simply had to be true for someone somewhere by simple weight of numbers. I have kept up my interest in earth sciences, astronomy, etc. ever since, but only as a layman, not a student. I am quite excited by some of the discoveries found within Jupiter's environment. Hubble and now JSW are also fascinating.

They concluded it from the data years ago, they didn’t admit anything.

Jupiter is known as the greater benevolent planet for very good reason. How often does an asteroid come by from the Kuiper Belt compared to the numerous asteroids found in the asteroid belt. Anyone who claims Jupiter is 50:50 blessing and curse is truly an ignoramus, not to mention an ungrateful ignoramus.

Jupiter is like the big brother who protected Earth from bullies. But he is not always around, and so sometimes Earth will have to take a few punches.

I always said that about Jupiter, the failed second Sun, I'm really glad that scientists finally admitted it 👍 awesome video

"[P]revented Star" should have been "failed star." Is the narrator just making up pronunciation and scientific nomenclature as he goes along?
