Vocal recovery is a delicate process... One that, to do correctly, requires careful introspection and patience!

Especially with the lingering and nagging effects of COVID and the respiratory damage that can occur, us vocalists need to tailor our practicing and exercises in a way that helps us build our voice back!

I am currently recovering from COVID myself and, in this video, I'm sharing the three simple exercises that have helped me the most in rebuilding and coaxing my voice back to pre-illness working order!

I had Covid twice. I have to say that I've lost my voice. I still can sing but it isn't the same.
I don't know how this has been possible but it's a fact.
I hope you get well soon and that your voice doesn't change like mine.
I can't avoid crying while I'm telling you this....
But it's life and we have to go on living.
Regards, my dear mate.

Glad I found this video. I'm like 8 months out from covid and the amount of loss of power and control long term is really difficult to deal with physically and emotionally.

Since other comments are telling their own stories I'll tell mine:
When the pandemic hit I was playing in a cover band which would play about 4 gigs a week. I wasn't at my best as I was getting lazy singing the same covers every week but I was at least singing a lot. Right when the world shut down I got a cold that while it felt mild really changed something in my singing. I noticed my voice was very thin, but I could hit notes really easily. Regardless of the expanded range, it didn't feel right as it wasn't my normal sound. Slowly overtime I noticed my chest voice had lost most of its upper register power and has never returned back to its normal state. While I don't know whether that illness was Covid, it did something for sure. Since then, I have had Covid one more time, which was confirmed that time. This is the first time in my 25 years of singing that I just haven't been able to return to my best level of singing on my own. It is probably time to see a throat specialist. I look forward to trying the tips you have given here on this video. Phenomenal voice by the way, just subscribed.

I got really sick like a month ago. I lost my voice for a week, yet I kept trying to talk, and... sing. It took over three weeks for my voice to feel somewhat better, and still, it hasn't gotten back to what it used to be. I have been signing and speaking less, doing some vocal exercises, and drinking water, and they have certainly helped. I will implement these in my routine. Thank you for this video.

I am so relieved to have stumbled into this video. It has been such a huge battle to have a voice after covid. I had covid two years ago, and so now use two inhalers. I’m so encouraged by your video, you e given hope and motivation to give it a shot and sing which is something I greatly miss. Thank you.

I had a mild case of COVID-19 back in January, the worst sore throat ever. It took a month to finally be able to sing again. Now have laryngitis I was really hoarse, even with my voice getting back I still don't have all my range especially my upper completely gone. Trying to stay positive and be patient as I recover. It's so hard not to sing because I love it, but I know I need to rest my voice. To all those suffering COVID-19 or something else, I totally get be patient take care of your health.

I've had Covid three times now and every time I lost my voice completely. My speaking voice has come back (never back to normal) but my singing voice is completely gone. I've been singing all my life with dreams of becoming an opera singer (no matter how late I am) so having this happen to me has me defeated. It's been a year and I still can't sing. I cry constantly and I've gone into such a deep depression because of this. Singing was my life...music was my life, it is how I tell stories through music and how I feel pure emotion without language. I am completely devastated and need help desperately. Thank you for this video, I will do anything to get my voice back.

Covid took my breath support for extended notes, vocal control, and a few of my high notes. I'm getting it back with massage therapy and hopefully with this video 🖤

Thank you for addressing this. I was in the middle of my first record when I got COVID. I lost a lot of range and control.

Mate I was just scrolling your videos and I honestly sent a text to my partner yesterday after trying to record a cover of song I would have easily sang prior to having covid…I couldn’t get through it without coughing or feeling like my voice was cracking and breaking, it killed me emotionally. Your video gives me hope man, thank you

Thank you. I was shocked about how hard it was to sing, even breathe properly, how small my range is now and how weird my voice is now after COVID. I've been trying everyday for a long time to recover and this might help.

After having Covid a few weeks ago I also learned that singing songs that are part of my lower range help me qarm up better and I massage my neck and throat and jaw to losen everything up because it just feels wa tighter since covid. Or I like singing (easier songs like my mother told me or other folky songs that dont need lots of methods) while taking a hot shower. It really works best for me

Good exercise, thanks Chris.
Often the weirder the sounds you make are, the more helpful it becomes for your singing voice in the long run...

Your curiosity, creativity and persistent determination to find ways to recover, spark hope in me. I want so much to enjoy singing again, though my voice different now - less agile and not as strong as the one I had pre-Covid. Thank you so much for your inspiration and great tips!
