Also fun fact - the numberplate on the Bandit reads "w001lf" (many Russian numberplates in the game are references to various animals). And the region number is 68, which is Tambov oblast. So the whole plate means "Tambov wolf", and is basically a reference to a saying.

To be honest, I have 1750ish hours played and have beat the game using only this truck in several play throughs two of them being hardcore mode. With its crane it is actually really stable if you use it as a counter balance, to the point where you can get through sections that the vast majority of trucks would tip. Its power and high speed make it easily one of the fastest trucks to complete the game with. You also aren’t forced to use the crane and most of the time it isn’t needed. I hate to say it, but it is my favorite truck after the ZikZ 612H.

i like the bandit because
-its one of the first trucks you get with access to balloon tires which
-combined with always on awd and DL, sometimes long before you get these as options for other trucks
-makes this thing basically unstoppable. i was unable to finish alaska or even really attempt most of michigan before i had this truck
I do wish sabre would stop trying to "balance" (read: put thumb on the scales to annoy us) and give it atleast 80 gallons to start with.

A few things worth noting:
- You can fix the crane clipping into the roof issue more simply by raising it a little bit from its default position. Not sure if this is better/worse from a balance perspective than turning it around.
- As far as I know, this is the only truck that can run a crane and the repair van body at the same time. Combine this with a fuel trailer and it makes for a really versatile fuel/repair tender that can also load cargo in a pinch.
- "people" who claim Spintires is better than Snowrunner often claim that Snowrunner lacks chassis flex, even thought this truck is in the game.
- The White Western Star is the best fight me.

When I started my snowrunning journey all those years ago, I found this tough-looking, capable seeming nugget in my garage.
But despite, through the next 200 hours for gameplay trying to find an apt use for it (after finally unlocking the balloons for it)

That never happened. It never impressed me more than any other truck in any role

Its an amazing Truck...

...FOR WHAT IT IS.

Its basically a Jack of all trades, master of none.


Of course you can find a better vehicle for any task that a bandit can do.
But hardly any of them can be better on all tasks that bandit does.

I know its bad. But its like first love. You will find another, but the first one will always have a special place in your heart.

Mhm. as you said, I have a nostalgia for the bandit. It was the first "competent" truck I had access to. in a time where everything else has highway tires and a dream, the bandit is floating on through life just chugging along.
