Another Outer Banks House is lost to Mother Nature. Crews cleaned up the aftermath of the strong waves left by Hurricane Ernesto. Wise man builds his house upon the rock, foolish man builds his house upon the sand!

How on earth were they ever allowed to build ON the beach? That isn't beach front, it IS the beach.

I grew up near the coast of North Carolina. When we would go to the beach, the older beach houses (from the 50s and such) were a quarter mile away from the shore. The newer ones were right behind the dunes. Our great grandparents were smarter.

I live in NC 40 years ago. We couldn’t build on the outer banks at that time. Perhaps they should have continued that way of thought.

Common sense is what’s not going on here. Hey I’ll buy a house on the coast line and not worry about the erosion from these powerful storms every year. People act surprised when these things happen.

As a child I remember singing a song at Sunday School which says..."The wise man build his house upon a rock, the rain came tumbling after and the house was standing foolish man build his house upon the sand, the rain came tumbling after and the house was washed away.

And the rest of us are paying higher insurance rates to compensate these idiot millionaires for buying houses built in horrible locations!

My brother can walk from his house, in a few minutes, to a private beach. But he did it the smart way. He lives high up on a hill, across the street from the beach. It’s not rocket science, just common sense.

The home owners should be responsible for the total expense of cleaning this mess up.

NOTHING SHOULD BE BUILT ON OCEAN FRONT LAND, It should all be national parks.

Barrier islands shouldn't be built upon. Just stop it.

My Field Geography teacher from UC Berkeley was being interviewed by a local news brew at the site of a road collapse on a precarious slope of the Sierra Nevada. The reporter asked “How can we prevent this on the future?” Without missing a beat he replied”Don’t build your roads here “. Building homes at the edge of the outer Banks is geologically foolish.

Too little too late. That house should have been demolished safely before being allowed to be swept out to the ocean just for debris to be swept back in. Ridiculous. County commissioners or mayor would allow public safety hazard such as this

For those who are interested:
This home was built in 1973 and was last sold in January 2019 for $339, 000

Stop building houses on the beach. Make it illegal. Oh, and for all you loons, how about we stop building houses in the surf to save the environment. There fixed it for ya.
