Hello you wonderful subscribers! As I said on the previous upload, I will upload some Queen rehearsals for everybody to listen to! This upload will focus on the Magic Tour rehearsal that is on Youtube and its respective performances.
This rehearsal took place in early June of 1986 and despite only having 15 minutes of material, this is definitely worth a listen (and make sure you watch the video version from the official Queen channel)! It’s unknown on which venue was used, but contrary to popular belief - this did not take place at Wembley Stadium - nor did it take place just before the Wembley gigs. What is known is the fact that these rehearsal performances showcase some awesome Freddie moments (which will be covered below)! The quality on the audio is decent enough - so it will be easy to hear everything! Now… time to talk about this rehearsal…
“Tie Your Mother Down” is heavily cut (only has the beginning, first verse, part of the first chorus, and the ending), but features Freddie showing off his powerful voice. He absolutely slays the ending with some powerful A4s that I wish he did on the actual shows of the tour! “Seven Seas Of Rhye” is complete and features Freddie making up lyrics in the verses. “Tear It Up” makes its 1986 live debut on this rehearsal and this version is awesome overall. It sounds better than almost every version from the previous tour and can match performances from the upcoming Magic Tour. Freddie gives his all during the song and sounds raw and powerful on the belted A4s.
“A Kind Of Magic” is heavily cut (boo), but has Freddie sustaining some great notes and nails the ending with authority. “Now I’m Here” is mostly focused on the instrumental bits, but it’s a great listen overall. “I Want To Break Free” only has the first verse and bridge section, but it sounds good overall with Freddie able to sing without too much of the “bark and shout” voice. The final song on the rehearsal is “Bohemian Rhapsody.” It’s a great version overall with Freddie singing the verses very similar to Newcastle/Liverpool 1979 (but with his Magic Tour voice) and sounds great during the rock section and ending!
ENJOY!!!
Note: Make sure you watch the video version as well!
