Why would position 5 (performance) get you the most mpg? Did you have that backwards?

I have a question. So I bought a truck that has the efi live 5pos switch on it with tunes. It didn’t come with a tune unit or a monitor. So could I buy a tune unit and then just edit the tunes myself or how does that all work?
