The LNER Class 91 is a type of electric locomotive used on the East Coast Main Line in the United Kingdom. These locomotives were introduced in the late 1980s and early 1990s as part of the electrification of the line, and they remain in use today.

The Class 91 locomotives were built by British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL) in Crewe, England, and they were designed to operate at speeds of up to 140 mph. They are used to haul both passenger and freight trains along the East Coast Main Line, which runs from London to Edinburgh via Peterborough, York, and Newcastle.

The Class 91 locomotives are capable of operating in push-pull mode, which means that they can be operated from either end of a train, and they are equipped with regenerative braking, which helps to reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency. They are also fitted with a number of advanced safety features, including automatic train protection and automatic warning systems.

In addition to the Class 91 locomotives, the East Coast Main Line also uses a variety of other rolling stock, including the Intercity 225 and Azuma trains. The line is operated by LNER, which is the primary passenger train operator on the East Coast Main Line, although other freight and passenger operators also use the line.
