GREAT attitude by Elton Sawyer. He's one of the few NASCAR executives I really respect. Didn't penalize Kyle for just "doing something weird." Thought it through, and realized it was done for good reason, and wasn't some tantrum. Elton should be NASCAR CEO.

KB has done this several times before - he's good at it. As Sawyer said it prevents him from high-siding the car and also going in reverse is slower than the pace car speed so it reduces the amount of damage that a blown tire would cause while going faster to get to the pits although in this case the initial damage was too great to repair.

NASCAR Needs to do away with the repair time limit, let the crews go to the garage, if possible, make the repairs and re-enter the field, and if minimum speed isn't met, then they're done, but please, give these guys a better chance with these new cars.

They really need to bring back inner liners for the tires b/c this will take someone out of the Chase or even happen in the Chase where they get multiple flat tires and they are done for that day.

If it didn't take nascar five hours to take a car back to the pits Kyle wouldn't have to do this. A simple flat tire can cost ya three laps.
