Monolids are so beautiful, and as someone with genetic droopy eyelids (which I love btw) monolids make me envious of the amount of space to play with eyeshadows! I think all eyes are so so beautiful and there's something deeply wrong with beauty standards when we have to worry even about our eyelids

I’m Korean and my monolids naturally turned to double eyelids a few years ago. Comparing mine to the video, mine is about 9-9.5mm. Each eye transitioned to double eyelids a year apart so I went to an oculoplasty specialist to see if perhaps my monolid side was experiencing ptosis. It wasn’t ptosis. The oculoplastic surgeon was also baffled as to how my one eye developed a crease. She’s Japanese so she definitely has experience with monolids as she has monolids herself. A year later, I went to see her again after my other eye developed a crease. She still didn’t have any idea how it happened and said “…they look natural. Count it as a blessing. People pay a lot of money to have eyes like yours” 🤗

I need this, but only for one eyelid. One eyelid is significantly more “droopy” to the other and it’s very noticeable. I’ve noticed it since middle school but now in my late 20’s it’s more pronounced

Asian double eyelids are quite different from Europeans. For Europeans it's actually a "fold' because the eye sockets are very deep. For Asians it's really a "crease". I find both fascinating.

I just use eyelid tape and if u use it enough the fold will stay

A lot of people get the surgery not just for cosmetics, but also because the excessive fat in a monolid leads to puffiness that obstructs the vision. Many Asians need to lift their eyebrows to fully open their eyes, leading to tiredness and wrinkling. The double eyelid surgery is often a fat removal surgery in disguise—the crease is a good way to hide the surgical scar with a desirable side effect.
