I agree and I love the way he plays Lucifer. Everyone seems like Sam being Lucifer's vessel but in my opinion he plays a MUCH better Lucifer.

Mark...he's got this aura doesn't he? He so perfectly understands and fits in the role of the bad guys. He's extremely wise but a man comes to this kind of an understanding about the bad guy only when he's...kinda...been in his place perhaps? Man i wanna know more about him, his past and everything. Theres so so so much to this man.

He's actually quite intelligent, this is pretty profound analysis and it's clear he is educated or at least reads a great deal. He's so great on SPN, hilarious without even trying.

Wait so... Mark gave a very well thought out philosophical answer that makes total sense and really shines new light onto the morality of a character that was the big bad for two season and arguably the bigger big bad for the first 5 years... and the interviewer sums it up to "So he has daddy issues?" pffft what a child. If I were Mark i'd actually be offended.

0:56 "If you had a father"
Reminds me of Heath Legder's Joker...

In a way, Lucifer is the most human angel of all of them. at the start it's God, Lucifer, Michael, Raphael and Gabriel. a father and his 4 sons - modern family setup. then about a billion angels are created and they all share the same father, which is bound to put one of them out, except it doesn't because angels are angels, not human or with human attachments or emotions, which I would assume Lucifer would be like meh, ok. Then God creates the humans and favours them over the angels, to which all the other angels are fine with as before. Lucifer doesn't like these and we all know the story about that, but why? because they're stupid? not really, a few of them returned him to the cage. but because he wants the family setup he used to have, like a human would, which i believe is a little different from daddy issues.

anyway i can't believe i just defended the devil

"Virtue as the servant of Vice." Now THAT is concept to ponder on for a good while!

Thats the real confusing and intriguing thing about Lucifer is that he does sound justified in some areas. Yet at the same time he really had no place to question Gods command. Angels were made to obey without question. Lucifer no matter the sense he tries to make is still in the wrong because he had no right to question the word of God. In biblical standards anyway. Its actually somewhat cruel when you see it from a humans standard. Humans have rights. IF your father loved your adopted brother and said for you to serve him anyone would be like "HELL NO!" Especially if you are the loyal son.

Going by an angels view where they must obey every command and don't really get to have rights like we do... Well.. Yet at the same time even if Lucifer was justified at the time, his later deeds doesn't justify his case. Thats where pride comes in as well. After words he tried to basically dethrone the father and wanted to rule in his place. He felt he was better than God and knew better. Again going by an angels point of view its as if you created something and gave it life to serve you. Like robotics and AI, but then It questions your logic and then tries to kill you. lol

In the end no matter what though if God is supposedly all knowing then he must have known that Lucifer would eventually fall and that he would tempt us. So really maybe thats what God wanted all along? I mean he must have. He has a plan right? And not only that but Lucifer is meant to make sense. He wants you to believe in him. He wants you to trust him. Why lift a finger when you can destroy yourselves?

The Yezid (of northern Iraq) who are stupidly called "Devil Worshipers" hold to JUST that line of thought that Mark made so very well - And that is that Lucifer (Melek Ta'us in their tongue) was right.
I had my doubts about Mark portraying Lucifer, but..? He rather quickly ended them.

Mark just seems to be an amazingly good actor-and can make people believe anything he wants. That is a sign of a great actor, it has nothing to do with his real beliefs whatever they may be

Im an English professor that specializes in the MIltonic cannon....paradice lost coupled with dante's inferno is where we get our modern ideology of Lucifer (although it goes as far back as Zoroastrianism) Lucifer literally means 'light barrer" and he was considered to be the most beautiful angel. After the Fall, Lucifer was actually offered redemption by God. Lucifer denied this because he didn't want to betray the other angels that followed and fell with him. The idea that God would offer the fallen angel redemption demonstrates that he was always, and always will be, God's favorite Son. Lucifer choosing hell over heaven demonstrates his loyalty to those who fell with him. Hell is never having to say you're sorry, even though you are.
