Shapeoko Pro Assembly Overview

NOTE: Additional comments/correction/built notes in description.

The Shapeoko Pro's assembly process has been vastly streamlined over that of the Shapeoko 3. Each step is compartmentalized in a box, letting you focus on one component or system at a time. This video will cover the required assembly processed for putting together your CNC router.

Comments/Correction/Built Notes:
- In some cases the Y1 port on the control board should be connected to the Right Y stepper, not Left. Keep an eye on this when you home the machine for the first time. The gantry should travel to the back right corner. Reverse your Y connectors if this is not the case.
- The plastic "Filler Strips" that go under the hybrid table to stop things from falling under the T-track are not needed on newer machines. We have a new extrusion with an extra wide lip that reduces the gap.
- In case it was not clear, remove the Shipping Bolt from the X-axis carrier plate before installing the Z-axis. Otherwise the Z-axis won't mount correctly...
-If you are missing fasteners, please contact support. All hardware is Metric, so if you're missing something and you want to source it locally just bring the screw/bolt to the hardware store and look for something the same diameter/length.
- When you are installing the drag chains, there are plastic spacers that get installed under the drag chain tails.

This has to be the most watchable manufacturer's assembly video I've ever watched. I particularly enjoyed Winston casually yeeting the boxes over his shoulder.

Outstanding engineering, attention to detail, precision and customer service. The entire team at Shapeoko sets a customer first standard for the rest to follow. Thank you

I have an original Shapeoko, wish I had the space for this bad boy. I watched the video just because I like listening to Winston explain stuff.

The video is a great compliment to the instruction manual. Can you update the video to the current machine?

Please update the video to mention you need to remove the shipping screw from the Z axis mounting plate before mounting, and that the new machines do not come with the plastic strips under the T slot extrusions now.

Metric, wow. Finally someone in the USA discovered that metric makes sense. Wonderful.

Nice work Winston...Ok, so the ground wire on the controller really made me happy....(Ok, so I'm a little different) I'm also looking forward to buying the standard model when it's available...I wonder if there'll be a meta table in lieu of the dead I really like what I see...as a REALLY demanding Engineer and as a 5-year Shapeoko owner. PS I did cry a little to see the marker made by tag rather than an engraved plate. Hiyaaa!!!!

Saving up for one of these now. Though for my shop, the XL will work best.

Helpful but this video is outdated. Using this to assemble a machine in 2023 and things are a bit different. An updated video would be helpful, thanks.

Overall this was a good video but keep in mind for a newbie it does skip over some steps that you have to figure out on your own. Not a huge deal though. We figured everything out. It would have been awesome if the plastic strips that are nestled in the machine channels wouldn’t have been missing so we could have finished he build.

Hey Winston great video - do you recommend using blue Loctite at any point in the build?

Just got mine assembled and am going through the initialization setup. When I do the steps to load defaults for travel dimensions around 15:10, the defaults it loads are different than the ones shown here, 870, 850, 95, vs the 855, 850, 100 shown on your screen. Just curious which one is correct? Thanks for the video by the way assembly was pretty easy with it.
