Experiment to test if waterproof socks keep feet dry when submersed!

Cold wet feet are never fun. “Waterproof” hiking boots are useless when submerged above the ankle, and they take forever to dry. In snow or when we expect frequent stream crossings, we like to wear waterproof socks over our normal hiking socks for extra protection.

I work on a commercial fishing boat and I wear these over my warm socks , even though I were calf high rubber boots my feet used to get soaked till I started wearing these I've used them for nearly a year and I can say they have held up both in water repellency and in integrity

Waterproof socks are great for keeping water out, but they also keep moisture in. So you feet end up sweating a lot and collecting moisture from the inside

As an outdoor runner, climber, backpacker wet feet can be trouble. Shoes start slipping, just a fraction of a rub, & can quickly get hot spot. Add a bit o’ sand & blisters come quickly.

My mom uses plastic bags (usually bread bags because they are vaguely feet shaped) while backpacking over regular socks, budget option & also lighter in weight i believe. They do tear but she melts them back together with a lighter to repair them

Sweat would be the killer once your foot is wet with sweat your going to freeze outside dry but that cold is going to get you

Bread bags work too. Vapor barriers in your boots, bike helmet base, hiking or biking they are great!
