As a citizen of Poland I'm glad my country is not a part of the Soviet block anymore or a satellite of Russia. Of course, we wanted to join NATO, Soviet Russia was responsible for countless atrocities in Eastern Europe but after 1990 the Russian authorities expected all that to be forgotten, they wanted Russia to be respected and included in international structures. Germany went through denazification, but in Russia former KGB agent becomes a president and expects to be respected and trusted!

Very interesting, thank you. Listening to this in April 2023 when Ukrainians defend their independence and fight for their liberty. So painful and sad, so many missed opportunities.. there are so many reasons why the transformation of Russia into a democracy failed.

Interesting that P does not want to be told what to do inside his country, but he is susceptible and reacts to compliments that he is doing something right. Although, I may have missed it, maybe Trump's comment that way was about something external.
