The Void Gravity Trap

Star Trek Voyager encountered a subspace anomaly in 2377 which they dubbed the Void. It was a 9 lightyear layer of subspace featuring nothing except those who had also become trapped here. Except a native species of aliens that seemed perfectly suited to a life of salvage and stowaways. Let's take a look at the lore and events of the Void in this summary video.

This was a proper cool episode. Original Trek principles - A micro federation.

The Void is such a great episode, its what Voyager should have been in the long run. Making allies and working together to scavenge and survive against the odds.

The Void. A place of mystery.

Our host. Yet another mystery.
He's been Rick, but for how long? And who was Rick before? Does Rick plan a change in the future?
Rick knows, but Rick will not say.
Rick. A man of mystery.

Two unknowns popping up from time to time.

Dang, that void episode made me crave playing Voyager Elite Force again. Somewhat similar basic principles.
Is there any chance of you ever making videos about Elite Force? Certainly there are others who already did this, but I'd prefer your style. :D

There is just something unsettling about having pure nothingness around you. Even more so with stellar voids.

Speaking of Nar Shaddaa, wondering if your gonna do any Star Wars vids like in you cultures series. I would not mind seeing some Star Wars ship breakdowns in your style (including the LCARS format) but I understand if it's out of your wheelhouse (Maybe just an April 1st episode idea?).

Love your intro. If you had stopped there, It would have made this the shortest video on YouTube! LOL!

Man, Famtomi people would make incredible Borg drones if the Collective ever learned of them.

There are two Voyager episodes with a void? I only remember one. I must have conflated them over the years since Voyager is a Star Trek series I've never properly revisted.

Nar Shadda? Quarren? Wait a minute... does the void transfer vessels into another galaxy and backwards in time!?

What if Fantomi and his fellows were in a symbiotic relationship with the Void? Perhaps the Void has a certain intelligence and is not accidentally scooping things up at all?

During its journey through the universe, the Void discovered Fantomi's people. It stopped to invisibly observe a tribe of these beings, gathered around a fire, eating food. After everyone was done, a colorful and strange energy began emerging from everyone's bodies.

Much to the Voids surprise and shock, this energy was absorbed into itself. Feeding, healing and sustaining it, all at the same time.

This would mean that the Void feeds in space to indirectly get what it needs. Much like Earth's insects called termites. They eat wood but get their food only, when the critters living in its belly, do their thing.

The Termite of outer space!

In Kerr black holes there is a theorised inner horizon which if you travel beyond you would enter a reyion of somewhat normal spacetime with time like curves through it. In other words; the void. It would be toroidal too, but if you cross the (somewhat) naked singularity you're back to being destroyed.

The only issue is that spacetime flows the opposite direction between the inner and outer horizon so you'd become a smear of particles if you tried to enter this region.

Note that this theory is very much untested and probably unprovable. Black hole topology is interesting though.

I love your videos and love how you use star trek online in them.

Say what you will about Janeway, but no other captain would've escaped the void like she did

it was a startrek version of the seaquest episode with freshwater sink holes in the bottom of the ocean.

It's my favorite episode in all of startrek!

They also repeated this in a video game. If the properties were similar enough it would be an interesting feature of the Delta quadrant in general... maybe it was some ancient civilization attempting to make a pocket universe and had several failed attempts
