DARPA's Falcon HTV-2 complete flight overview - (edited)

This is a combination of 6 different videos from DARPA's website (it is mentioned in the start of the video). I edited in a hurry that's why there is the annoying DARPA logo 6 times. DARPA in their channel upload a video without the logos a day after . You are right, it is annoying but it was the best I could do at the time.

Of course the project is what matters and as you can see from all the videos on our channel and our website we greatly value technology and engineering. Technology drives the progress for humanity, it depends on us and our maturity level to use it wisely. A big thanks to everyone for the comments, the likes (and the dislikes!). :)

This is one of the most exciting YouTube videos I have ever seen.

this is the hypersonic aircraft designed by the u.s. military, it travels at speeds reaching mach 20 or 13, 000 mi. per hour, 22 times as fast as a commercial jet-liner. This is the 2nd test, the 1st ended with the HTV-2 crashing into the Pacific.

@ObserversParadox Actually this also is being developed for civilian and aeronautical uses, not just military.

no, its the project...the work you did is amasing!

@Attiladesigner22

Yes, they are DARPA, forerunners of the internet and GPS technology, stealth planes and boats, robotic technology including prosthetic arms and micro and nanorobotics, one of the largest sponsors of autonomous vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles, and overall one of the largest drivers of modern scientific progress. And they just made a vehicle that goes 13, 000MPH. What exactly have you done?

@ARunnerNamedClay it more than likely become practical.. most military things usually end up being used in civilian life.

The good thing about weapon's research is that it provides knowledge that can be useful in areas of non-weapons research. The bad thing about non weapons research is that it provides knowledge that can be useful in weapons research.

The Speed of Sound depends on the pressure and temperature, so "20x the speed of sound" means something pretty different at high altitude. Regardless, 13000 mph is crazy fast

Technology like this can aid in bringing advancements for future technology like planes. War oftentimes drives technological progress. With the results and information gleaned from weapons like these, civilian transports could eventually benefit.

Amazing job editing this video, showed the exact flight plan, thanks.

So it supposedly does a series of "skims" across the upper atmosphere. Using the thin air density as its maneuvering mechanism (dipping into the atmosphere for large changes in direction with its aero surfaces). Straight-forward cross range capability at orbital speed...which is a first for a weapon.

...Like the Shuttle was supposed to originally do when they designed it with massive cross-range on polar orbit launches from SoCal. To bad that was scrapped by Congress.

the field holds the inside reality in place and so youd feel stationary evenn while doing a 90 degree turn at 12 thousand miles an hour because of the feild the ship would be weight less when measured from outside the field if you wieghed it

i got one it uses lasers to vaporize air, and in space use the same lasers to vaporize particals of hydrogen cause theres anywhere from 1 to 1000 particals per centimeter cubed, the faster you go the more hydrogen thats vaporized and turned to energy

@ObserversParadox it´s military research like this that helps all people by developing new technology. I don´t support war but the technology out of it is a big profit for all humans. The whole astronautics with all it´s benefits: Hubble, GPS, weather forecast, satellite tv, climatic research, the ISS, flights to the moon, soon to the mars and someday beyond.

ICBM's are designed to carry out strategic nuclear strikes in an all-out war. This is designed for fast-response precision strikes.
Totally difference purposes and different capabilities.

@yarpen800 just because it can be outfitted to carry a weapon doesnt mean thats what it was designed for

"We have heavily invested on some rookie animator, who did the demo video for us under 3 days, demonstrating an incredibly expensive but failing military UAV that we happen to loose in early testing stages. But remember! We are DARPA!"
