My daughter was brought up like this. With a long hears Basset Hound standing guard to her crib!
Before it happened never crossed my mind that a "dumb" dog like Basset Hounds sometimes are considered. Would be so overwhelmingly protector and a careful one at that. To this day I miss my sweetie doggie. BTW Now I'm a grand pa of a 11 years old grand daughter. :-)
