One of the best compositions for jazz fusion guitar ever written. Jukka and I performed together in 2006 in Canada. It was truly the best moment of my musical life...and I have played with many "names" over the years.

Jukka Tolonen was most talented player and composer at seventies in rock/fusion scene...at least here in north..these guys are doing great job as promoting his talent.

Nice to see some young people playing Jukka's 40 year old music!  Still doesn't have the energy and originality of the original, though, but a VERY good try! 

On 16 July,  1972 guitarist Jukka Tolonen, saxophonist/flautist Pekka Pöyry, bassist Heikki 'Haka' Virtanen (Jukka's cousin), and drummer Reino Laine played this song at the Pori Jazz Festival to a HUGE crowd with high intensity and originality (after all, it was an original composition by Jukka, then only 20 years old).

They weren't playing cover songs of tunes from 1930.  Yet in 2014 these Tohtori Tolonen lads are playing a cover of a 1972 tune to a tiny crowd in a park.  I suppose it was fun, but a lot of hard work...for what?  To compose something NEW and truly innovative would be the ultimate tribute to Jukka's ideals of those days.  Perhaps it would even lead to a career. 

His ideals now?  Jukka has surrendered his life to Jesus Christ, and plays Christian music concerts in churches and outdoor events, singing and playing piano.  His osteoarthritis does not permit him to play guitar anymore.  Check out his 2011 album "Juudan Leijona" (Lion of Judah), an album of Finnish Pietist hymns. 

A May, 2014 documentary film called "Tolonen!" was made by Gateway films,  and a new CD of Tolonen cover songs was released this year as well.
