Instructor : Umair Z Ahmed

In this lecture, we continue our discussion on pointers and understand how we can pass pointers as arguments to functions. Using multiple examples, we discuss how this technique can be used to implement call by reference in C.

These lectures were recorded as part of ESC101 course offered by Prof. Rajat Mittal to first year undergraduate students at IIT Kanpur in 2017. They were recorded and edited with the help of Mookit team at IIT K (sincere thanks to them). The course starts from the very basics of programming in C like input/output, operators, loops, etc. and finishes at the advanced topics like recursion and file handling. No prior background in programming is assumed for this course.

These lectures were delivered in Hindi by Prof. Rajat Mittal and his team of tutors (including the owner of this channel) in parallel to the classroom course which was conducted in English. The motivation for these recordings was to help first year UGs who were not comfortable in English but comfortable in Hindi to cope up with the course. The feedback was extremely positive, and hence these videos are still being used in IIT Kanpur in every semester.

The slides used here have been made mostly by the previous instructors of ESC101 (IIT Kanpur), we would like to thank them for sharing these slides with us.
