Need to alter video. On my 99 the headlight switch does not come out like that. If you pry on it you will break it. There are releases on the back side.

The headlight switch does not come out on an E99.  Just leave it in place and disconnect the wires on the back.

How do you remove the aftermarket radio?

Great video. Viewing now as I have to replace a recently installed DIN2 Stereo w/ back up camera screen that has gone South. One question which was something you did not mention. Did you disconnect the battery so there was no power at these plugs before disconnecting them. Safety first, no? Thank you.

Thank you for this. Guys like you take the mystery out of stuff like this for old guys like me. I'm good enough with tools but electronics are mildly horrifying. So for all the old guys who are afraid to take electronics apart because we might break them, thanks and keep 'em coming!

What if there is an aftermarket radio already installed? How do I get those two screws out? I have an older double din radio that I want to upgrade...

My results varied.

No, the headlight switch assembly does NOT always come out first. I BROKE the front bezel on the switch on my 2000 using the methods shown here. On mine, the dash cover comes off FIRST, THEN you can remove the wire plugs on the headlight switch. In fact, the switch assembly can remain in the dash cover unless you're servicing it. To remove the switch (at least on mine) there is a locking tab not accessible from the front that must be released before the assembly will come out of the dash cover.

Cheers.

Do the plug connecters only fit in 1 connection? In other words, can they be plugged into the wrong plug?

Trey, I have a 2003 Super Duty 6.8 V10. While on a long road trip, the 4R100 transmission gear indicator broke under the dash where the cable adjuster bracket is attached under the steering column. The bracket snapped off (heat rot??) so I bought a new indicator ass'y from Ford (3C3Z-7A110-BA) that comes complete with the PRND2L plate, cable, and adjustor. I cannot find any instructions and how to get to that part and replace it. Would following this video be the best way to get to it? I think, or I hope, from there I can follow my nose and complete the rest of the steps. I'll apprecaite any help you can offer.
