Math time, using numbers from this very video article, and assuming 36, 000, 000 (= 36, 000k) population in Canada.

59k cases / 927k tested = 6.4% incidence of covid-19 in Canadian population

36, 000k people in Canada x 6.4% incidence = 2, 300k infected in Canada

Incidence Fatality Rate (IFR) = 3.6k covid-19 deaths / 2, 300k covid-19 infections = 0.16%

Compared to a typical flu, this IFR is high (0.16% versus 0.01 to 0.05%), but compared to the scary initial estimates from a few months ago (3% to 10%), it is an order of magnitude lower. This indicates that covid-19 is not as nearly as deadly as was first feared; its death rate is comparable to a severe flu.

Because Canada doesn't have the capability of producing Remdesivir, we will lag behind the U.S by many months in obtaining the necessary amount of doses. No one brings this up in the Canadian media, because the reprecussions are dire: People will die here because we've had a regression in our medicine industry since the 1980s. In other words, we are now further behind where we were in the 1980s when it comes to chemical synthesis for drug production.

All you sheep just skimming the surface of every story, looking no further than the headline, maybe do a little looking into this. The problem is not with the reagent, the device or the accuracy. The problem is with the swab that goes up your nose. The company designed a swab to be used with their system and the swab needs a quick redesign. The test is accurate, and the technology is proven. The issue is the q-tip.
