This is one of the reasons why I made the active decision to leave social media all together (the idea of millions of people having access to me even when I don’t consent to it and just what social media was doing to my well-being). It was something I had been contemplating for months now and, Alhamdoulilah, I have finally made the decision to leave it. I sometimes find myself wanting to go back, but the positive outcomes that have come about from this decision keeps me steadfast on this decision. An important rule of the internet that I personally had to learn the hard way:

Never ever say anything in private to someone you met online that you wouldn't be willing to say publicly to everyone. Never give people the opportunity to have access to your secrets and personal life no matter how nice they seem. Someone will inevitably use that info to hurt you.
