"Broadway" Lyrics:

Broadway's dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway's dark tonight
See the young man sittin' in the old man's bar
Waitin' for his turn to die

The cowboy kills the rock star
And Friday night's gone too far
The dim light hides the years
On all the faded girls

Forgotten but not gone
You drink it off your mind
You talk about the world like it's someplace that you've been

You see, you'd love to run home, but you know you ain't got one
Cuz you're livin' in a world that you're best forgotten, around here

Broadway's dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway's dark tonight
See the young man sittin' in the old man's bar
Waitin' for his turn to die

You choke down all your anger
Forget your only son
You pray to statues when you sober up for fun
Your anger don't impress me
The world slapped in your face
It always rains like hell on the loser's day parade

You see, you'd love to run home, but you know you ain't got one
Cuz you're livin' in a world that you're best forgotten
When you're thinkin' you're a joke and nobody's gonna listen
To the one small point I know they've been missing around here

Broadway's dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway's dark tonight
See the young man sittin' in the old man's bar
Waitin' for his turn to die

You see, you'd love to run home, but you know you ain't got one
Cuz you're livin' in a world that you're best forgotten
When you're thinkin' you're a joke and nobody's gonna listen
To the one small point I know they've been missing around here
Round here, yeah

Broadway's dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway's dark tonight
See the young man sittin' in the old man's bar
Waitin' for his turn to die

Why in the hell this band is so overlooked is beyond me. This dude is a lyrical genius and the music is freakin killer. They definitely don't get the respect they deserve...

Even after decades; it is still sounds current and evergreen. I miss the 90's. Most tune on radio nowadays are just plain silly

Johnny and the band stuck with it and did a lot of great work, they should be very proud of what they created.

the vibe of goo goo dolls is badass. I don't know why but I feel like I'm connected to this band. they talk about society, human problems. lost and suicidal I dont know how to explain.. but this band speak deeper part of myself.

My amazing wife introduced me to this song! She knew that this 74 year old soul would love it! She has extraordinary taste in music and movies! That’s what keeps us going strong! We share a passion for both! As she often tells me that “age is just a number on a page”! Pick one and read that chapter!

It's amazing how songs you liked at 15 mean so much more at 35

“...it always rains like hell on the Losers Day Parade.” Always loved that lyric.

Very thought-provoking and relevant lyrics as you grow up and get older

Goo Goo Dolls was my first concert in my entire life. My mother and sister brought me to it when I was 10. I didn't know how awesome what I was seeing was. What I wouldn't give to go back to that concert and rock the fuck out!!!

Watching this video gets me all nostalgic; the 90's were definitely the best.
Since then, good mainstream music has been dying a very slow and gruesome death.

God, his voice is so amazing. What a very very underrated band. They are fooking fantastic.

Love it because it refers to downtown Buffalo, and just like Johnny that's my home town!
