Homeless On GUAM USA - Kao & Jessilyn

I first saw Kao & Jessilyn about a year and som' ago, and would give Jess a dollar or two whenever I encountered her - between the two, she does the panhandling. Kao doesn't say much, he's real quit. My village of Dededo has some homeless people, but I never did attempt to meet any of them out of fear that they might find out where I live and camp out in my backyard. After getting to know them, I’m over that fear now.
We would greet each other whenever we crossed paths, but only recently did we formally introduce ourselves. I had an idea of where they lived and always thought it was in a camping tent, boy was I wrong. Under the canopy of tropical jungle a nucleus of a community well fed, well rested, appears.

Now, I will be doing the homeless in this particular area. As for Paul Universe, I will continue to touch basis with him on a regular basis.

My vacation didn't go as planned, due to unforeseen work that was on a special request. Instead, I had a staycation and much needed rest, I had fun. Please like and share. You are all much appreciated. Thanks you, sincerely PlanetGuam

She seems like such a sweet lady and her family too for letting y’all come in and film. I wonder how they’ve been doing with all the heavy rains.

Wow! I've always passed there and wondered what was up. It's good to hear that they have permission and take care of the land for the owners. The amount of trash lying around is a little troubling but maybe that's an effort towards recycling. This was an intriguing video and she seems like a good character. Looking forward to checking out the others!

My parents moved to Guam in 1977 as educators and never left. I am coming back home in December, to visit for my 50th birthday. This is unbelievable to me.

Homeless Paul’s place was very clean. I’m sure these guys can do the same and clean up if they want to stay healthy.

Hafa Adai... Harmon was my village during the mid-1960s until we moved to Agafu Gumas around 1970. The spot where McDonald's now stands was once our school bus stop. The road was a mere two lanes leading up to Barrigada Hill. The route from McDonald's to Dededo was just a small, bumpy dirt path. Our modest abode was a tin house with two bedrooms and a small living room. The windows were wooden louvers, and one bedroom featured a hinged plywood window. Our kitchen was set up outdoors. As a child, my duties included feeding the pigs, chickens, pigeons, and rabbits. During rainfall, I had to arrange about six 55-gallon drums to collect rainwater from the roof through a large gutter. I had to monitor the drums and switch them out as they filled. Once full, I'd cover each drum with a clean white sheet, secured with an old bicycle tire inner tube to prevent mosquitoes from breeding. The kitchen floor was made of asphalt, a remnant of the old airfield that once occupied the site. Another task was to venture into the jungle to gather tang'an tong'an, split them, and lay them out to dry for firewood. Once dried, I'd stack them under the stove for cooking. We used an open fire for cooking; I'd prepare coffee in an old pot and cook rice. Reflecting on those times, life was good—peaceful and simple. It might seem difficult, but it was normal for us. My adult children believe I had a rough upbringing, but it wasn't really the case. Those were the best years of my life. Nowadays, while the homeless manage to get by, it can be perilous. Since retiring for the second time, I've continued to grow in wealth and always strive to give back and pay it forward. Blessed by God, my family and I believe in giving back. I hope to devise a plan to feed the homeless when I return home, perhaps through a food truck serving different locations, offering food and clothing without charge. Esta

All they have to do is organize their home, put all the trash in one section, then plant fruits, vegetables, and flowers. It's peaceful to be in the nature breathing fresh air, watch the moon and stars at night.
