I was attacked by a dog when I was 9. Almost lost my eye. Had over 70 stitches in my face & quite a few in my hands. I had to have multiple surgeries. I used to be really self conscious about the scar that was left behind. I wouldn't look people in the eyes & had a hard time looking in the mirror. And always thought that's what people noticed first about me. It took years for me to build confidence in myself from the inside & slowly over time I noticed people didn't notice my scar all that much.

I'm 40 now. I look people in the eyes (maybe a little too much now to make up for all the years I didn't). In the long run looks really don't matter. Confidence does & confidence comes in all shapes & forms.
