Human Rights

"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights." This is what it says in the very first Article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The idea of Human Rights is one of the most important fundaments of human co-existence. At the same time human rights are subject to fierce debates and Human Rights violations are common all over the world.
But what exactly are Human Rights? Who is responsible for protecting them? And do they really apply to all people?

This is the first part of the series "Focus Human Rights". It consists of this overview clip an three more specific clips for each of the three dimensions of Human Rights. Check out our Channel for the other clips!

You can have human rights in the U.S. so long as you don't protest, question authority, or definitely question a police officer. Currently, we have no one to defend our rights in the U.S., despite the public face we try to show to the rest of the world...

If you ever file a complaint with Canada Human Rights Commission. You will experience the one alway said that they promote human rights, will also be the one treated you as not a human being, first thing they would said they were very busy, so they were backlogged, and they put your case in their inventory list for year after years until yourself and nobody care about the case, then they will dismiss your case. I call them Human Wrongs .

I also see how far social justice has come and how it has failed thus far in many ways. But hope lies in our hard work to strive for respecting and loving each other as we meet with successes and failures along the way towards human rights for all.

All human rights are universal, indivisible, and interrelated. A society where someone is oppressed, discriminated or in poverty, no one can be free and equal. World peace can only possible when all nations shall ratify all international human rights law and all person have conscience to defend human rights. Yet not a few persons neglect this and UN have no power for all nations to force such ratifications. Yet if human being had a worth to exist on the earth, we must combat such severe reality.

I feel this clip gives overview of human rights, what they are, their complexities, their shortcomings, why human right are needed for a better world. It covers who is responsible for implementing and protecting human rights. I am struck by the video's as it shows human rights complexities and how much energy has been put into it.

Very good educational tool that we can use in our Education through Sport programme. Unfortunately the word 'races' is mentioned in the introduction. As an ngo we promote the 'one-race' theory through our campaign 'One Race-Human Race' and away from the Anglo-American construct of 'many races' that was used to justify slavery in the first place. Apparently, human rights do not apply to me. Not only are there people in the U.S. violating the U.N. Declaration, but also almost all of my constitutional rights as a U.S. citizen. I am being tortured, discriminated against, and targeted for destruction without a trial and without due process. When I try to leave the house and find an attorney, I am stalked and turned away. When I try to come online and talk about it I am being censored. When I try to document this police intimidation is used.
