Converting FLAC to MP3 (For Free)

I use Winamp. It has been around for years and I have yet to find another music player that can beat it.
Because it is so old, I thought I should find a better player. So far nothing comes close.
Right click on the selected files in Winamp (not the playlist but the main screen) select send to, then select format converter. Set up your preferences, mp3, bitrate, You only have to do this once. Click done. Watch it do it's thing.
It works a treat
Click the box Use old file name and path. The files are created in the same folder
Now delete those huge flac files. Another goody now you can edit the tag info with mp3tag. That got to be a bonus. Love Winamp.

Yup same here. You need to explain better especially on how you got that lame.exe file because its not showing up

That will not convert .FLAC into .MP3, as another commenter said. It has to be encoded in order to convert. But to answer your question on why your .FLAC files don't end with .FLAC, go to the folder with them in it > Tools > Folder Options > View > Uncheck "Hide Extensions for known file types"

Thanks for posting this excellent tutorial, but is there any way to save the files in the same order they appeared on the original album rather than in alphabetical order?

Where can I find the LAME files? Sorry in advance if it's just under my nose, new to this kind of thing.

(that's normal). Unfortunatly i only know how to do this on win7 (if you're using any other kind of system srry) go to the folder and in the top left corner you'l see file, edit .... (my pc isn't in english so i'm not sure if i'm sayng correctly) in tools (or the 4th one) click folder options and put (te 2nd one) and then uncheck (or check depending on your pc) something about extensions. If you need any help answer me back.

As soon as you try to locate the lame.exe file to use to convert around 2:50, it doesn't show up. I've done all of the previous steps exactly how you've done it. I'm lost

As far as I know, FLAC files are compressed files right? Once you convert to MP3, will the files increase in size or just stay the same?

Some MP3 players (like mine) don't have support for FLAC or AAC, which is why converting to 320 kbps MP3 is important to me and several others.

that was a great video, thanks a lot. what he's doing is just using the lame binary data to convert flac to mp3. you can use different software other than foober, the one he used, but you have to use lame in all of them. i use audacity + lame.
