48 Hours In Chicago ! | Best things to do in Chicago | Weekend in Chicago |The Bean, Sky Deck

Cheeky little 48 hours in Chicago! So decided to head to Chicago for the weekend just for fun with family and friends. We didn't plan the weekends activities as such, sort of just went with the flow and I recorded/ vlogged as we went along. I hope this vlog is useful for anyone that might be traveling to Chicago for the first time as it shows some of the things you can do whilst in the city. Feel free to add any of your suggestions in the comments :)

From a local....whenever I had visitors from out of town at my restaurant and they asked me what to do, I said this:

1. Deep dish pizza. Lou malnatis is my fave. But you have several choices. (Pizzería uno, pequods, pizanos, ginos east)

2. Architecture boat tour on the river. Super cool and educational boat tour and great views.

3. Any sports game. We love our sports here and the game atmosphere is awesome.

4. Great food everywhere you go. But definitely check out al’s beef, portillos, Chicago style hot dogs. If you like awesome bbq I highly recommend green street smoked meets in the west loop. Or the smoke daddy in wicker park or in wrigleyville. We’re also known as a meat packing madhouse so if you want a good steak, won’t be hard to find. But Gibson’s in the Gold Coast has always been my fave. Awesome Mexican food and Italian food all over the city as well. In the summertime, Mario’s Italian ice on Taylor street. And for any out of towners that drink, get yourself a shot of malort. It’s Chicago’s shot. Sorry, but you’re welcome.

5. Sky deck in the sears tower has great views. (We still call it sears tower, you guys can say Willis) also the tilt at the Hancock center is cool but scary if you don’t like heights like myself.

6. Lincoln park zoo is free and only about 15 minutes from downtown. Also the shedd aquarium, field museum, and Adler planetarium aren’t far from each other downtown and are super cool. The art institute is downtown as well that’s real cool. Mexican fine arts museum in Pilsen is great too.

7. I’m personally tired of it, but for out of towners, millennium park is pretty cool. In the winter time the skating rink is open and just around the corner at Maggie Daley park is the skating ribbon which is awesome. Also on Michigan Avenue if you wanna get your shop on.

8. I never tell tourists to head to navy pier unless they really want to. They did just build a new bigger Ferris wheel and just opened the largest rooftop bar in the country so those are nice.

9. If you want great views of the city definitely hit any rooftop bar, boat ride, walks down the lakefront trail or down the riverwalk. Even a ride on the cta “L” trains give you great views.

10. Tons of live shows all around town. Second city, bars playing live jazz/blues, stand up. During the summer there is literally a street festival EVERY WEEKEND, with great food, music, and people.

Wow! I vicariously explored Chicago so nicely and elegantly with Anika! Revisited this city after being there physically about 22 years ago at COMDEX Spring… The computers were quite chubby at that time, and they got much slimmer and leaner since those times. aweome video on things to do in chicago! The sky deck it awesome but it sucks that it can get so packed and that you only 30-60 seconds on the glass box to take pics!
