Best thing I've heard throughout the video: take college as a 9-5 job.

I went to nursing school and I have two tidbits for students.

#1: figure out who the smarter people in the class are and make friends with them. Nursing school is much easier with friends.

#2: Never skip class. Staying in the routine makes things easier plus you always know what's going on and what's expected. Plus you get points for showing up.

People say high school doesn’t matter and while that may be true your senior years will definitely matter, if you want to go to your dream college you’ll need to get a good gpa and sat score, you’ll need to do AP and IB classes to get a feel for what college is like and to get extra credit college

My best advice is called "!st grade math". If I handed you a 1st grade math sheet with 8+8 and 2+6 you would be able to fill out the problems very fast and get a 100% score. Until you understand the material in your college class that well, you don't know it well enough. If you get a less than 50% on an exam you will eventually fail the class so don't take this lightly.

Can confirm 10:20 is true. I was on the wrong side of it though and my roommate had dominance over me my freshman year.

Get an internship. Impress the shit out of people at your internship. If you have to choose between your internship and studying, prioritize the internship. Don't flunk out or anything, but everyone gets that diploma- a good letter of recommendation on the other hand, puts you streets ahead.

Volunteer at a business that relates to whatever you believe is your dream job. I started as a Biology major because I kept believing that I'd become a veterinarian. I used to think being a veterinarian was my calling to work with animals; my inspiration to work with them originated from watching "Zoboomafoo" during kindergarten. By the time I finally got my chance to volunteer at a vet clinic, it made me realize that working with animals in terms of medical assistance was not what I had actually wanted. I then switched to Psych major after the thought of becoming a service dog trainer clicked into mind. I unknowingly foreshadowed the experience already when I brought my Yorkie along when I met some cast members of "Invader Zim."

Don't EVER buy a college textbook. Even if the professor emails you and says you'll need it in advance.

99% of the time you won't. They have to say that because the college tells them too, or in some cases they wrote the book under a ghost writer name.

I've recently graduated college and only needed 1 textbook. And only time I ever needed it is for in class open book quizzes

If all fails and this still doesn't convince you, wait 1-2 weeks after the class starts to see if you'll need the book. You can usually tell if you'll need the textbook the first 2-3 days of a class. .

Ha ha. Wish I had this my freshman year.

The bookstore one is true. The difference between a book from the bookstore and a book from Chegg could range between $100-$500. However there are some books that can only be found at the bookstore affiliated with the college. Those are EXPENSIVE.
Don't get me started on online books. $80-$120 for a code is not fun. Those you HAVE to get from the bookstore or they won't work.

Very often in programming lectures I find my tutor just not teaching the right material for the course: that's where I just get my laptop out and do the assignments instead: seriously, if there's anything I learned in University is that lecturers who tend to stray from the actual material you need don't help in the slightest - they end up waffling and you're left with useless information that can't be used in any way - get a leg up on them and just do your work in the lecture if they go down this path it's bad enough you have stuff to turn in and you get a lecturer deciding it's better to teach you some random stuff that never comes up in the actual assignments: sucks for them, not for me.

If you need a book, someone in your major has a pdf of it. I’ve never had to buy a book once in college because of this.

I'm taking college in high school because my high school pays for it. I can get my associates degree by the time I graduate. For free.

My tip: Learn references and citations. If you understand R&C you can punch out assignments and essays in a week or less, easy.

Not even in college, but I feel inspired to do my homework.

My biggest tip...if you an your roommate(s) start to have conflict an you know way early in it that it wont get fixed. Leave. If you can move rooms do it. I lost 3 of really close friends my last year of college all because they blamed me for a dream -_- an more crap. Have fun missing my cooking an adult advice im still salty.

I disagree with taking the hardest professors or the hardest classes especially if that harder class is a non-major class. If you are doing STEM definitely pick the best and easiest teacher you can get because your classes are already going to be difficult. Always check Rate My Professor. It can save you some headaches.

A good tip, do not make notes during class, just listen and engage. This helped me alot as we didnt have to care about every class since essays and exams were based on 2 classes and not all 10

I remember a few my dorm posted one semester:
If you can at all avoid it, don't take any 8AM classes.
If you're going to passionately hug (as rslash calls it), please keep it safe (well, safer)
Please always flush when using the toilet (but NOT while someone is in the shower!!)
Try to only party (especially if adult beverages are involved) on the weekend
