Cost of Living CRISIS | Are We ALL Feeling POOR? | Poverty Increases

If you have been following my channel, you know our family is super frugal and after my husband lost his job at the beginning of the year, we have been living on our bare-bones budget of just $1500/month. Stretching a $1500/month budget is getting harder, even while being being debt-free.

While wages have increased some over the years, they have not kept up with inflation - not even close. I have 2 teens who are trying to make a plan to move out and become independent soon. One will be 18 next year. We have been looking into how much it is going to cost her to move out, what her income will need to be, and how much she needs to have in savings ... and I don’t know how she is going to do it! Living is so expensive!

It’s crazy I’m in the medical field and have a very secure job people think I’m so lucky in the other end I’m dying to quit it because I’m so burned out exhausted and ready for a nervous break down. It’s like you can’t win.😢

Since Biden took office, there seem to have been more unfavorable results in America. These results include effects on the markets, such as price declines and sharp increases in inflation, as well as bank failures. I wonder if the sudden increase in interest rates will help value investors or if it would be wiser to stay away from the stock and financial markets for the time being.

My oldest will be 18 in 5 months and I told him to save as much as possible and live with us as long as he can. I don’t understand how in the U.S. most people are excited to push their kids out at 18. I feel like that’s not possible today and I hate how that’s so normalized here. I’m in Florida also and in 2 years the price of houses in our neighborhood went up almost 100K.
Thank you so much for your videos! They are so helpful!!

I'm a 71 year old senior with a fixed income. Like your family, I no longer pay for entertainment. I've' discontinued cable tv, and go to the library for free movies and books, and enjoy free activities. I've become an ovo-lacto vegetarian, no longer buying meat products, and have taken on a part time job in order to keep my car and health insurance. Thankfully, I'm in good health, and debt free.I don't know what else I'd be able to cut. A large medical bill or financial calamity would empty what I have in savings. Thank you for your candor. I pray you and your family remain blessed and healthy, and continue to thrive in this terrible economy.

I'm a school bus driver barely even making a paycheck for rent. I work doordash, Instacart, shipt and Amazon flex. I barely can keep up with the cost of living. I'm completely burnt out but I have no choice but to go hard just to try and survive.

Market crash is coming. Save up to buy a place for cash. Our 23 yo daughter work and makes $15 an hour. She has worked since 19 (tried but couldn’t find a job anywhere from 17-19). She hasn’t gone to college (we can cash flow community college when she is ready). She lives with us and has to save everything she can for her condo when the prices bottom out like in ‘08-12. She has TONS of money saved and is extremely frugal. She has a 2011 Nissan versa that her grandma gave her (she was going to trade it in, but they only offered her 300 dollars). It has 211k miles on it and looks like something from the Mad Max movie but it runs fine and she is happy with anything she has. Super humble and sweet girl. Having a paid for home will be her big leg up in life. More than a college degree at this point.

Your in the fortunate position of having no mortgage / rent. Im in the same boat as you and feel so blessed - all these years being frugal are now paying off.

Well done.

I have two grown kids, 21 and 19. They are still living at home and we are all helping to pay bills. We are planning our escape from this outrageous cost of living. We are saving to buy a small acreage of property further from town, and we're building a small house so we don't have a mortgage. I'm done with this madness. Group together with family and help each other. As a single parent that's all we can do. My brother was homeless because his wife died and he no longer had the income to pay all the bills, he lost everything. He's living with me too and he's going to move to the property too. Ban together!!!

you sound like me, , , when i was twenty, that was 40 years ago and how everyone made it...we had nothing NOTHING extra, not even a coke, never even paper towels, we bought nothing...i had ONE pair of pants to wear out, the kids had no shoes except what was on their feet...you'll be ok...we made it. it is simpler to live without than to rush around trying to have more. God Bless

The sad part most don’t realize… low wages/minimum wage goes up EQUALS cost of living going up to offset that wage increase trickle effect. It’s a no win cycle!

Just remember when the govt says we have a 5 percent inflation, don’t forget to add the one in front of the 5.

What gets me is real life situations like yours and so many of us, and then the next video that pops up to watch is shopping hauls, Amazon hauls, walmart hauls, must buy this and that... what happened to us that we think we need " shopping HAULS".. like lets just go buy a bunch of crap we dont need, so we can show it off.... for real??

Our biggest struggle is food. We have five children that I homeschool, so we are a single family income. I cook our meals, but still we are spending around $1000 a month on food. I have to eat gluten free and have other dietary needs that add to this cost. Sometimes I get down on myself because we aren’t meeting our financial goals and saving like we want too. We have no consumer debt and we have good credit, I should try and give ourselves some credit for how well we are actually maintaining in this time. We are very frugal, we shop at thrift stores, we pay cash for our old cars and so on. We live in 1268 sq ft home but thankfully it is on five acres. I’ve encouraged our kids to buy campers or build a tiny home (we would help them) to live simply and frugally on our land.

It is really getting harder and harder for people to get by. The media ignores it.

It almost feels like we're living on an edge of a cliff and somebody's going to come along and just kick us right over the side

I can't stress enough how important it is for your girls to get degrees in fields that pay living wages. I helped my daughters through college and they have both been self supporting since age 21. They bought their first homes at age 23 and age 25. How? One got a degree in Business Finance and the other is a Registered Nurse. Education in a sustainable field is critical.

My heart goes out to the kids. They are making it that it will be a serious homeless crisis soon🌻🌻

I know a retired surgeon who still does consulting in his 70s that drives a beat up 30 year old Toyota truck.
My buddy a successful lawyer who drives a 23 year old Nissan that burns a moderate amount of oil, suspects that our Latino buddy who owns his own light construction/handyman business with his shabby fleet of a few beat up pickup trucks probably has a higher net worth than any of us.

I was laid off of my job due to the economy. Then I got diagnosed with breast cancer last week. I’m battling. I’m doing Instacart shopping and some part time gigs, but I’m already feeling fatigued and don’t know how to survive during this time. No one will be hiring someone going through active cancer treatments. 😞🤷‍♀️
