I see this many countries have Indian names. Like Thailand says "Chakrayan" which is Indian Sanskrit word. Also Indonesia says "Roti" which is also Indian name. & many more...

In Malaysia, we have those words in our own language. But we also have our own English variety separate to that of USA or the UK. Videos like this can be confusing sometimes.

As a Lao person, who was born and raised in Laos I can confidently say that no one in Laos call Netflix as Netfly (or something I couldn't catch it) judging from the pronunciation and accent I think the woman who has shown up in the video is not a real Lao though. We call Netflix as Netflix, McDonald as McDonald, and for Sandwich we also call it Sandwich; we do have the word 'Khao jee' but it means bread not sandwich

As a Malaysian myself, I can guarantee that most Malaysian call popcorn as popcorn and cupcakes as cupcakes. But the proper *Bahasa Melayu* translation of Popcorn is Bertih jagung and cupcakes is kek cawan. As I believe that most people in this video translated the words given to their own mother language.

It's a shame and very sad to admit that nowadays generations are more proud of foreign languages than their own mother language.

The reason why Singapore used English is because that’s one of the official language. Our national language is actually Malay. But we have four official language; English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil. We also have our own creole language which is Singlish (English with mixture of Chinese dialects & Malay language). Also, our English we use is the British English which been taught since kindergarten.

So, for the Singaporean girl, she’s Chinese. Therefore she likely speak mandarin & English. If it’s a Singaporean Malay, they’ll speak Malay & English. Basically we’re taught to be bilingual since birth.

For Malay language, it’s basically a language unique to Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei & some small area in other SEA countries. Malay language have words that’s fully in Malay and we also have words that borrowed from other languages.

In Indonesian, the real translation of Popcorn is “Berondong Jagung”. It’s so sad that younger people and people nowadays rarely use the real Indonesian word.

Immersive translate is a good app for learning multiple languages and I'd recommend it since it has helped me learn both Korean and Japanese and I'm also thinking about starting Chinese.

As a Laotian, Ive never heard a Laotian said “Netprize” (Netflix) before! 😂😂😂 Our language are very similar to Thai. And for the McDonald part. Here in Laos we do not have McDonald’s, but I don’t think we pronounce
McDonald like that. 😅

The Thai word for Bi-cycle is very interesting to me as an Indian. For it is derived from Samskrit, Chakrayan(Bi-Cycle) = Chakra(Wheel in Samskrit) + Yan(Derived from Yanam which means Vehicle in Samskrit).
