Doing the small things everyday will yield better results than doing something big every year.

As a medical student, hearing you talking about being an "and" person made me fell a lot better. Pressure of dedicating our entire life to medicine is heavy and sometime I keep doubting if I should quit what I tend do consider "hobbies" (aka. creative skills) to fulfill those ideas. Thank you very much for this

Motivation is a temporary thing, like a drug, the more you take it the more you want more. Don't seek motivation, seek and build discipline instead. And to build discipline all you have to do just start.

How to build discipline:
1️⃣ Start small.
2️⃣ Make it regular.

Motivation comes and goes. It's not in your control. The real path to success is through consistency + finding ways to keep improving.
Your videos have helped so much Ali 🙏

One of my favorite quotes from solving the procrastination puzzle by Tim Pychyl:
“Let go of the misconception that our motivational state must match the task at hand. In fact, social psychologists have demonstrated that attitudes follow behaviors more than (or at least as much as) behaviors follow attitudes. When you start to act on your intention as intended, you will see your attitude and motivation change.”

It is a great short book.

Book Club is a great channel idea, sounds like a classic series to look forwards to. The occasional fiction piece won't hurt.

I am 19, and i never ever ever would read, not because i didnt like reading, i just thought it was so boring, because my mind set is, if doesnt make me happy or benefit my life in anyway why would i take the time to do it, in this case read, and for me reading didn't do any of those things, untill i found the genre of "Self help" and now i cant stop reading, and i get so excited every time you release these videos, because its another book that i get to buy and read, and gives me so much joy, because the potential impact it could have on my life is huge, and way worth the price

Being motivated is a feeling. There are times when we don't feel like it. Therefore, what we need is self discipline.

3 main takeaways:
Motivation isn't the spark, but rather the roaring fire that burns deep inside you after you've successfully taken the correct action steps and built momentum — many times before any fuel was available to you.
"I can't" refers to external environment, situations and resources, whereas "I don't" refers to an identity, the type of person you are (more empowering)
You don't need to build all the skills at once. You can focus one at a time, in 5-7 year blocks, and become world class at it, then move on to the next thing while leveraging the unconscious competence of the past development.

I’m glad you’re finally spending some time working on your motivation. Because, so far, your first from Cambridge, being a doctor, owning a company and having a YouTube channel on its way to 1m subs are all quite frankly...disappointing.

Thats where my problem lies, I set too high goals for myself, fail to reach the goal, become demotivated, search ways to be motivated again and the cycle goes on. However I am working hard to change my ways and is definitely seeing some progress. Thanks for this video, lots of love and blessings from India ❤

You just changed the definition of motivation. I do have lot of interests beside my career goals, but wasn't sorted out . It gave me clear picture of everything.
Planning with clearity makes the best out of you .
