Carter was competitive until late October 1980. Strangely, in 1976, Carter received the fundamentalist Christian vote, while Ford played the role of self-righteous establishment defender, displaying antipathy towards those who would bring their religious views into the public square.

Observers who read the *complete* history, not just the stuff that makes them "happy" and mellow inside, will remember much more. They will remember his role in organizing and launching a war that would cost countless lives in Asia (Afghanistan), his competence in managing the economic crisis at home, and his ability to deal with the power struggles that unfolded in Iran, culminating in the "Iranian Revolution" that had domestic repercussions. Taking *opportunity* photos with African children [the poster children for the "hapless"] does not change those facts. Who knows, maybe one day Donald Trump, who allegedly referred to African countries as "sh*thole" countries, will take opportunity photos with the "poor, helpless" African children to show the world what a "swell" guy he is. 🙂

Not as president.. maybe out of office. Unless you like being told to knit a sweater when freezing in the winter and couldn’t afford Carter’s energy polices. (Or lack thereof)

Charlie Kirk description was better and right to the point👍
Jimmy Carter was a failed president, but a decent man who tried his best to serve America throughout his long and distinguished life. He was a sincere Christian,
“and nobody could ever accuse him of simply trying to loot the country and cash in, like so many of today’s Washington oligarchs.”

May he rest in peace.!!!
