Today I’m reviewing my fourth and fifth books off the Wainwright Prize Shortlist of 2018: a picture book written by Robert Macfarlane and illustrated by Jackie Morris, as well as this year’s prize winner - The Seabird’s Cry by Adam Nicolson. The Lost Words is a book that captures how the beauty in language can unite with the wonders of nature, with beautiful illustrations and melodic poetry - this book begs to be read out loud, for young and old. The Seabird’s Cry is a natural history about a kind of bird that thrives in the three elements, and holds magnificent adaptability to an ever-changing world - but it is also a cry for change in our treatment of these same birds, before it is too late.

Thank you for doing these videos. I had never heard of this Prize, but I love these sorts of books. Your series is giving me a lot of new to me books to check out.

The Lost Words is so beautiful! I read it last year, but I will definitely come back to it, for example when I'm having a bad day and need some comfort reading :) I still haven't bought the Seabird's Cry, but I will and it was interesting to hear your thoughts about it! Thanks for the review!
