Lived in Halifax over 50 yrs now and love it here . Summers get up to 35 C = 100 F and winters -20 C for a few days . So much to see and do. Love Halifax - come back again soon :)

The "battleship, " is a Corvette. It's role in WW2 was to protect the trans-Atlantic convoys. They're based on a type of fishing trawler. They were hell to sail in as it was said they "would roll on wet grass." They were also absolutely vital in getting supplies to Europe and Russia. HMCS (His Majesty's Canadian Ship) Sackville (just outside of Halifax) is the only war-time configured Corvette in the world. Donald Duck has nothing to do with children. Sailors would often personalize their ship in the same way pilots had nose art painted on their planes. Sackville is operated by the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust.
For what's worth: I'm a 60-year-old lifelong resident of Halifax & worked for 15 years as a tour guide in Halifax. I have never, ever, heard or read about a ghost ship in Halifax Harbour. I suspect you heard something about the Teazer Light. Young Teazer was an American schooner serving as a privateer during the War of 1812. She was sunk by a British ship in 1813 in Mahone Bay after her powder magazine erupted. Those who say they've seen it, describe seeing the fiery silhouette of a ship which quickly erupts into a ball of flame before vanishing. Mahone Bay is about a 90 min. drive southwest of Halifax.
Oh, and it's not Nova Sco-sheeah. It's Nova Sco-sha. :)
Glad you enjoyed your time here.

I am from that area, but live in Manitoba. I was home visiting and was on the Halifax waterfront a few days before you were there. You saw a very tiny bit of our beautiful province. Please come back. 💕

We had a guided visit through the cemetary where some of the Titanic victims are buried on our New England cruise. It was incredibly moving and interesting.

“Todays probably as warm as it gets" yeah, no. It gets very hot in the summer.

As always an enjoyable and informative video - I hadn't realised how lovely Halifax was or how strategic it was in the past. It looked a really lovely place - and being on the very east of Canada, easy for us in the UK to access - another one for the very long list!

After the explosion, Boston sent trainloads of medical personnel and supplies to Halifax to aid in the recovery. Halifax was so grateful for the support that, to this day, they send a Christmas tree to Boston every year, as a thank you.

the fact you think that's the warmest it gets is only 75ish is so American. It reeaches like 100-110f in the summer here

7:56 I've seen pictures of people dipping their toes in the harbor at Queens Landing in the summertime.

Sko-sha, not Sko-she-a. Interesting to see an outsider's view of the city.

Having been born and raised here, Halifax is a shitshow. Everything is unaffordable, nothing downtown is open past like 7 unless it's a bar, and if you're anywhere near water you've gotta hold your breath because the harbour smells like an enema.

Seems like a boring place to me. I won't visit.
