Nice to see somebody check the Gerber’s etc, to reduce the chance of getting a duff PCB. I used to hate hitting the go button when you've got £1000 pcb order, only once did we get it wrong. A rush on flex-ridged PCB and the 30 pin connector was mirrored, also was only noticed after PCB’s were heat soaked for 2hrs and the connectors soldered on and they did not fit in the box. Well it did but the connector was facing inwards :(

Using JLCPCB's EasyEDA software does eliminate most of steps in generating BOMs and the pick&place file for assembly.

I have found that they don't like the CSV(come separated variable) files output by EasyEDA, but all you need to do is import the CSV files into Excel and save them as XLS files and they're good to go. I usually do some minor editing to reduce the files just to the SMT parts they will be assembling for simplicity.

EasyEDA is a decent layout package that's pretty quick to learn and the integration with JLC is a true convenience.

I've just tried PCBWay. The only advantage here is that you can order from DigiKey. Otherwise, PCBWay is expensive and there is no preview for the components placements. One disadvantage for JLCPCB is that they have limited 74HC parts, for example no 74x121.
So, I need to separate order the missing 74's and do some own SMD work, when ordering from JLCPCB.

Hey Steve! I would kindly like to register my interest ahead of time for a spare board. For my Black Eakins microscope. That would be amazing! And a lovely thing to cherish. Even if the boards end up not quite right. Actually I was already very interested in this project. For many of the same reasons mentioned in the earlier videos. Will come back / ask again later.
