Hi Barry, these watches serve different purposes, so a direct comparison doesn't really work. I'd take the Nomos for a smart casual look and the Sinn for everything else.

I suspect that the Nomos is a better watch with it's in-house calibre, but then the Alpha isn't anything to write home about, and the 556 uses a Top grade Sellita.

I'd take the Sinn, but if a Metro Nachtblau was an option the choice would be much more difficult...

Enjoy your weekend Barry and thanks for the video. Cheers, Bob 🍻🥨

Sinn…. Nomos got to get over insisting on the oversized lugs.

Two very different designs and approaches to a great every day watch. Both are great choices for anyone's collection.

Both are great options, even thought I love the Sinn, but I would choose the Nomos cause the reverse California dial is much more pleasing and the case is thinner.

Both are superb pieces and would go as I dress but if someone says, "pick one and it's yours", I will go for the Nomos.
It is much simpler to find a cheaper diver that would look good than a casual piece with a tasteful design.
But then you stopped my heart with the Pequignet... one of those days I will get my hands on one.

The brands are very different and cant easily be compared i have a sinn 756 for every dsy and a nomos orion for dress . The sinn is indestructible but a chunky lad whereas the nomos is thin

when it comes to the design I feel the Nomos looks better but on quality I think the Sinn watch is better built than the Nomos watch !!

Just wish Sinn would loose that tiny date window

The Sinn for me; mainly for the legibility.

Gotta go with the Sinn, California dials really turn me off. Also a fan the durability of sinn generally. I had an 836, and truly regret selling it. Definitely respect Nomos in-house movements though.

I have both: a Nomos Orion and several Sinns (556, 856, 104, and two U1s). For dress, I prefer the Nomos for how it simply slides under a cuff. For everyday wear, I choose the Sinn.

I have both a Sinn 104 and a Nomos Orion Neomatik. I find that I wear the Sinn more often, but the NOMOS is a more elegant watch. I generally wear the NOMOS with more formal attire. The Club model is interesting to me as a more everyday wear. I should also mention that NOMOS has excellent customer service on warranty issues. Never had to do the same with the Sinn, as it is built like a bomb shelter. If the budget allows, get them both.

Nomos have to be the greatest bargain in modern watches - JLC would charge you £8k for that! But excellent movements aside, I just don't get on with Nomos styling, nor their mega-lugs! So the Sinn for me. A great all-purpose watch, well worth the money and easy/cheap to service. Almost laughable (it is zee English humour...) how much value and quality the Germans offer compared to the Swiss (say Tudor or Longines). Respect is due. One day Nomos will make a 36/38mm watch I like...

I would go for Nomos. The datesize on Sinn make it for me useless. On the other hand, the Roman and arabic numbers have some logic, arabic numbers show a time of work, and roman- a rest, surf time, if You are on Pacific Ocean coast. Its very nice. Sinn is, specially with a red second, perfect and much more solid, but for me much more boring. Nomos is not only perfect, but show much more character. Sinn is a tool, Nomos is an inspiration.

I don't like Roman numerals but on the other hand (wrist?) the date window on the Sinn is out of proportion. If it had been left out, the sinn would be my choice but then again, if it had been bigger, maybe even a bit oversized, I would also go for the Sinn. The H-link bracelet would definitely be the one I'd choose to wear it on, I think it's more in style with the watch than the five link bracelet.

I love manuals but +1 Sinn. What was Nomos thinking with white hands on white dial? If I wear long sleeves/cuffs a lot then Nomos thinness would be welcomed, but I already enjoy a couple very nice Christopher Ward Trident and Malvern manuals.

Difficult to compare these two.

Do you prefer being wrapped up in a casual linen suit from Charles tyrwhitt or some hiking gear from Jack wolf skin?

For my taste it’s the Sinn. Just an epic watch.

The Nomos I think is lovely and a little quirky with orange pops here and there. But manual wind watches I find a bit annoying

I’m going with NOMOS, I do like the SINN but sorry the quality of the NOMOS is considerably better and looks like no other watch out there. I’ve owned the Sinn 104 and the Nomos Club date.

Sinn for me. When the price increased on the Sinn it went down for the Seiko "Willard" at Francis & Gaye so I snagged one. They owe you a beer because I would never have heard of them but for you.
