Sennheiser HD100 First look and quick review - Back to basics 🎧

#161 If you've grown tired of earbuds, recharging, wireless pairing, bluetooth enabling & ear pinching, neck stiffening heavy studio headphones, then you might be ready for the HD100.

They are a very basic, sub $50 choice for discreet headphones that you can wear as you go about your daily listening. Super light weight, no batteries to charge, nothing to link or pair and no active noise cancelling to block out the outside world. Sometimes that is exactly what I need, so I ordered these to try.

Excellent review, just bought them, very impressed with sound and comfort, at that low price.. also it's nice to see you answering questions, so I subscribed!

Hi, do the HD100 have a microphone. I just want a cheap headset to plug into PS4 controller. Pricespy says they do but I can't see if they feature one anywhere else.

So I bought a pair of these. I have another pair from another brand (KitSound), the Bluetooth works well to an extent but the entrance to plug it to the computer somehow broke which means that sometimes I can't hear on one side.
I know that my reasons are super silly but I honestly like the Sennheisers way better. I can't edit audio properly with Audacity while using the KitSound in Bluetooth mode because somehow there is some interference that makes the whole audio sound chopped, so that's when my Sennheisers come into play.
Of course, they're not like the other models but the Sennheisers are pretty comfortable and work for their intended purpose. I'm not worried about them breaking because most of the time I'm a paranoid and take extra care of everything I have so I'm sure this pair will last me for some years until I can get a better model in the future.
In a way, it's a good way to get familiarized with the brand. If these headphones last me for a very long time, of course, I plan to upgrade.
Great review!

Can you tell me if there is a bit of noise reduction from the outside or is it like wearing headphones that does not stick to your ears and you can hear all the people chatters from outside distractingly?

Apparently these are no longer made.
Got these the other day thru a clearance.

Listening to a few cds great, next one was Ghostbusters original 1984 cd the title track absoulutely sounds audiophile and great volume on a good output. Even one better was The Beatles Abbey Road 84 black triangle cd with the de-emphased quantity (hghly rated as the numero uno audiophile quality of all digital transfers) and it absolutely was flawless quality.

I dunno why Sennheiser is discontinuing thus light weight wired headphone. And leaving only wireless or 100 ton cans in their range of (and I mean) headphones but if you want lightweight and quality make no mistake if you see a pair grab em fast.

PS you reading this Sennheiser, make this product a permanent catalogue item cos I've certainly scored a winner big time for a lightweight portable headphone

Just curious about whether there are markings for the L and R side? Thanks, Matt

Is there a way to tell the left and right side? I couldn't see an L or R marking. Thanks in advance : )

Thank you very much for the review! Could you please share if there is a lot of sound leak. I work in a very tight office environment and I don't want to bother my colleagues with my music. It's quite hard to find information about this on most reviews. Thank you once again!

Not sure if you've tested them but I've been using sennheiser hd229's. My second pair, really happy with them for what I use them for. YouTube on my tablet, but they just died so looking for something else, the 229's seem to be discontinued so I'm thinking of these, just wondering if anyone can offer a comparison to the 229's?

Hi there! I enjoy listening to music a lot, but I normally just use apple's basic earpods for its practicality... I was looking for something cheap yet more immersive in terms of sound. Would you recommend me the Sennheiser HD100 for that effect? Thanks!

Hi, I'm looking for headphone for listening music(all genre). Which one do you prefer:
-Sony MDR-XB550AP
-Sennheiser HD100
-Sennheiser HD300

I don't like Sennheiser headphone cause for me, no mic control is a deal breaker

They look good for film crew comtex director's headphones. Good quality, easy to pull down to your neck, low cost. The weak point is the thin wires going to each earpiece. In my experience, they break under consistent use and non-repairable. But at $40, just get another pair.

sound quality should be better than panasonic ergofit 125 earbuds? or at least equal?
I've got recently sennheiser cx-300 ii, sony mdr-110ap they both sound worse than my panasonic earbuds, cx-300 even painful to listen sometimes

I'm just considering whether to buy the HD100. I had a Sennheiser PX100, but it broke, now I'm missing it! I don't like earbuds at all.

By your description, they look good to me. But that plastic should break easily, I think.
Am I wrong?
I wish you a great 2020!
