"Please take care of DK, He is my friend." Is such a wholesome thing to hear from the legend himself.

0:15 - I was nervously anticipating horror stories leading up to this moment. Given everything you hear about in the gaming world. Imagine my relief and newfound optimism.

I expected mostly negative responses, it's great to hear that Miyamoto was extremely helpful in creating some of the greatest games ever created.

Seeing this terrified me, I was afraid Miyamoto had passed away. The guy is every bit a treasure, to Japan and the world.

There's several stories going around about Miyamoto being an asshole; but in Retro's case, their creation on itself was a nightmare story that only ended as a result of Nintendo's direct involvement and Miyamoto's interest in one of their game concepts, so no surprise they hold him in high regard.

One of the things I like about Miyamoto is how hands-off he's been in recent years. Game dev teams look to him for feedback and guidance, but his direct contribution to even the tentpole franchises he created, like Mario, is very little these days. And it's nit really just him, it's a cultural thing at Nintendo -- this tells me that Nintendo is very committed to cultivating institutional knowledge among its staff, so that if a key developer dies or retires, other people can step in and keep the traditions going. Hence why Nintendo properties endure, and still feel like themselves, for decades.

Miyamoto-san is a treasure. He might not always make decisions that please fans, but overall his vision and understanding of what makes a fun game would be a challenge to dispute.

Interesting comments from former Retro developers (development, audio, design, and engineer directors) in regards to Mr. Miyamoto's comments when play testing a game. It shows that Mr. Miyamoto can imagine the game's atmosphere, the characters, and the playful sense of a game. But most importantly; it shows how much these franchise and characters mean to him. Sure not every idea is successful but the ideas behind it can show potential. Shoutout to the developer for making these ideas come to life.

He lived to see his theme park be built unlike Walt Disney. That alone is amazing. I’m very thankful for Mario, DK, Link, and Samus.

To Miyamoto, the characters are as alive as we are.

Sakurai further upped the whimsy of the DK characters (and then some) in Smash Ultimate. I love how cartoonish and playful the expressions and animations of the kongs and K Rool are. I wonder if Miyamoto had input into that.

That Miyamoto's able to walk in and immediately knows how to tweak a dozen things for the better shows his superb senses of place & feeling.
Much of Miyamoto's job today as a Creative Fellow at Nintendo is to go around giving advice and direction like this. That Nintendo retains Miyamoto and other developers from the 1980's is a big reason they've maintained such consistent quality for decades.

Great interview clips. I can't believe this channel doesn't even have 3k subs yet. It deserves many more.
