So umm... Minecarts can delete players from the game.

It’s not deleting the entity itself, it’s just that the entity doesn’t have a valid rotation value, so instead of rendering the entity, it simply discards the render call, making it invisible.

Now, regarding the player, I imagine there are quite a few values and objects tied to the players render-state(such as the game camera), so if the game cannot render the player, this mess occurs.

This is definitely a thing 2b2t people would have loved to weaponize

3:51 Schrödinger’s villager. The villager is both alive and yet not at the same time

Step 1: Create a condensed chamber of 30 minecarts underground and set up a sculk sensor to detect when someone falls into them

Step 2: Create a 1x1 room above it with a piston drop door.

Step 3: Add some sort of incentive for a player to pass over that block

Step 4: Use traditional trap setup to drop player into the minecarts

Step 5:

Damn, that frozen frame of nothing but abyss and coordinates NaN/NaN/NaN is terrifying

The sound of the minecart colliding is so loud it bursts Steve's ear drums

NaN (Not a Number) can be created in several ways in computers, here is a list of them:
- most operations with NaN
- indeterminate forms: 0/0, ∞/∞, 0x∞, ∞-∞, 0^0, 1^∞ and ∞^0
- operations which produce complex results:
- √(-n) and log(-n) for positive n
- asin(n) and acos(n) for n > 1 or n < -1
- memory misinterpretation (highly unlikely in managed languages like Java)

The scenario here contains an edge case where the distance between minecarts is perfectly 0, and you can easily think of a few other edge cases here where perfect 0 can appear. Unchecked divisions on these numbers can therefore produce NaN.

EDIT: as for why the game just doesn't render the villager:

it's the equivalent of the computer saying "what time is it" and you answer with "pineapple". So it just gives up and tries again next time.

The game could render the villager with some default rotation like (0, 0, 0) but the game devs decided logging an error message and discarding the request was the right choice if something like this were to occur (and i agree)

2:46 the villager knows where he is, because he knows where he isn't.

ok funny bug aside, but i find the concept somewhat terrifying?
like, you do something seemingly normal (...as normal as stacking minecarts and pushing them into a wall is) and you suddenly find yourself in a dark void, the world went completely silent, you dont know where you are, if you even are somewhere, and no one knows where you've gone and that you're still there. Somewhere.
Just like that, you got completely eliminated, the only thing remaining? A faint echo of what was once you for those willing to listen (the subtitles still showing sounds)

You entering a black void with invalid coordinates is the closest thing to noclipping into the backrooms in vanilla Minecraft.

We got minecarts creating black holes now 😭🙏

1:40 My theory for this is that the sound isn't playing, but the game thinks it is, so it makes the rest of the sounds muffled under the sound of the minecarts.

love how the coords are NaN yet you're still in the jungle biome😭

well according to how the floating point standard works you are nowhere because NaN can't be equal to, be greater than or be smaller than any number including itself, but because of this logic you are also everywhere because you are zero distance away from any real coordinate so this is a bit of a mind bending situation

What would happen if you set up an enderpearl stasis chamber beforehand, and hand another player activate it while you were “deleted” from existence?

The villager rotated into de the 4th dimention. It can no longer be viewed by our primitive 3d eyes.
