Nice presentation, the only problem I see for me is that you have no endless number of sessions per server if you do your permanent connection. Anyway, its a feature thats very important and interesting, so we dont need any workarounds (hopefully) for this anymore.

There was a question at the end about latches and barriers. There's a special type of Barrier called a Phaser; instead of everyone incrementing or locking on one variable, they may be tiered into a tree like structure. They're very useful if you're processing lots of little jobs with computational dependancies. I'm disappointed to see this in more places. See the new Java 7 Phaser.

It might be a good idea if you know the philosophy of ruby. Its all about fun. Thats one aspect why I really like this language.
