I'm a producer who moonlights as a touring bassist, & I got a CV Mustang initially just for the comfort of the shorter scale, & Phil is totally right on. It sits perfectly in every mix. Every sound engineer loves my bass. I got rid of my P Bass & use the Mustang exclusively now.

I played bass pro for around 20 years, 95% on P bass or a custom 34" fretless. I would sometimes use a Hofner Beatle for session work if they wanted that particular sound. Now that I'm old, I sold off the 34" basses and am just using 30"s; a Hofner and a Fender Bronco with a '70 J Bass pickup.

I just got a '77 Mustang in stock, and when I tested it out, I arrived at this exact same conclusion. It is so cool! Almost hate to sell it.

I fell in love with the mustang bass the day I saw Air open for radiohead at outside lands. Nicolas godin was using the mustang bass on a bunch of songs and his sound was amazing. After that I started noticing a ton of different artists using them and began recognising the sound in songs. I've wanted one ever since and still don't have one 😢

I have the Mustang bass for a few years. As a guitar player, I LOVE it. Short scale rocks.

I'm still a Danelectro fan. Had a 66' bass six, which is just a baritone tuned down. Plus. If you can get your hands on a longhorn body, then you get those extra...maybe useless...frets. And they just look cool. A very important feature that.

The Mustang bass and Bass VI are on my short list.
I have a Mikro that is a lot of fun to thump around on

There is no self mixing instrument. You always have to work with all of them. I love Mustang bass but I don’t like those silly statements

I started on a P Bass type bass. Then I played my friend’s terrible pawn shop warped neck fake Hofner. The action was awful, but I could just fly around.

Now I just have 1 bass and it’s a short scale. Also have a 27” baritone that I mostly got to restore, but it’s fun too.

I got a Mustang and chopped the head off. It's shorter than all my guitars except my Ibanez Ichi10 now, and I LOVE it. Can confirm, very easy to mix and easy for a guitar player to play.

I always prefer a bass 6, but the mustang is cool

I think the american performer mustang bass is the finest mustang bass fender ever made.

the guitar players don't understand how to pluck a bass string, and vice versa...

Very interesting! Also, I’m a tiny man so I prefer smaller instruments

I’m interested, but I still love a good PJ bass

I honestly don't like the feel of Mustangs, not really the sound I like either. Liking something is subjective, I'm glad you guys like it. It's not for me

I have a short scale bass, a Hofner, and since getting it I barely pickup my Jazz Bass.

as a guitarist the strings were just too floppy for me. full scale jaguar PJ is the best, has a jazz neck.

My guitar tech says shorter scale basses have worse intonation?
