A dozen of eggs?🤔 #englishlanguage #ingles #english

For quantities like “dozen” or “half,” the correct usage when referring to eggs would be “a dozen eggs” and “half a dozen eggs.” There is no need to use “of” after “dozen” or “half” in this context.

When it comes to bananas, the term “a bunch” is indeed used to refer to a group of bananas that are attached at the stem. A single banana is often called “a banana,” but when you’re referring to several that are connected, you would say “a bunch of bananas.” #english #ingles #learnenglish

I’m a native English speaker and I’m almost positive I’ve said “a thing of bananas” before

A dozen eggs is right, but a dozen of eggs is still okay for me, it more precise, I heard of both in the UK. Also bananas come in hands they are then divided into bunches, as a hand is too many, but also bunches come in different amounts, so we should say the approximately amount in numbers or weight. The English language is a combination of many different languages, so it’s imperfect.

"A dozen eggs please" hands over 10 eggs. *Visible confusion*

I got so mad 😭 as a native English speaker saying "a dozen of eggs" is valid and no one cares

edit: you guys don't seem to understand– I'm not talking abt grammar rules, in a real life setting, people will know what you're talking abt whether you say "of" or not and no one will complain

You only give her 10 eggs, a dozen should be 12 eggs

I’m a native English speaker and I just realized that not using “of” in “a dozen eggs” but using “of” in “a bunch of bananas” makes no sense

A bunch of bananas can also be called a hand of bananas

I don’t blame you, even as a English speaker some sentences don’t make sense but most of the time we assume that the person we’re talking to would understand us, but those that do correct us also lower our confidence too 😅😂

A dozen of eggs is actually technically right. Cause a a dozen is a description for quantity or number of eggs you need. Its also correct to say a dozen eggs.
