For 15 years I had a "Hate, Hate" relationship with ink printers. I said goodbye to them 3 years ago when I got a $100 Brother laser printer, no I don't have color and I miss that some, but the cartridges are cheap and last a long time and I have had ZERO problems with it in 3years!!!! . No more ink rip-offs for me! I believe having a laser printer has actually lowered my blood pressure.

Only buy an inkjet that meets these 3 simple criteria: 1) Ink tank
2) REPLACEABLE PRINT HEADS - GOOGLE THE REPLACEMENT PRICE FOR PRINT HEADS before buying *** 3) Easily replaceable ink absorber sponge (*ALL* inkjets have a ink absorber under the print head cleaning mechanism. Also check that the printer doesnt auto-obsolete itself when it reaches its printer ink absorber nappy count (or there is a way to reset this).

Laser printer toner cartridges do not "dry out" like inkjet cartridges do, especially if you don't use the printer all the time.

I guess I have been lucky. Bought a Epson WF-4630 in 2015 and after 6 years and over 15, 000 pages printed, still works just fine. Has wi-fi printing, is an all-in-one printer/scanner/fax, and uses separate cartridges. It works great for text, pictures - whatever you throw at it. Whole family has used it during the pandemic at home and still no problems. I have nothing to complain about. Next printer probably will go to tank but with any luck that is still a few years away.

Unless you print frequently forget about an inkjet. The ink ALWAYS dries out and then you have to use up half of it to “clean” the print head, which only works half the time anyway. I’m much happier after switching to a B&W laser printer. I quickly realized that I hardly ever need to print anything in color anyway.

I need the color printing and went with a tank printer and I love it. I've had it over a year and have not had to buy ink yet!

Another thing to consider is that laser printers are much bulkier and heavier.

HP laserjet printers "run out of toner" about 3 times faster than they actually do. I just keep saying print anyway, and the cartriges keep printing for months. When I start getting lines or blank spots THEN i change the cartridge. Will look into those tank printers. Never heard of them before.

I don't know about laser printers not wasting toner during maintenance; I had a samsung laser printer that practically emptied the entire cyan toner cartridge into the 'waste toner bin'.

Printers are incredibly inadequate unless you’re willing to shell out several hundred $

BEST PRINTER: hp1505, this is the only buyers guide you need, buy a freakin printer thats laser that only costs 50 dollar to purchase and the toner lasts 3-5 years!!! hp1505 just do it... when hp made this printer they had to stop making it, it was simply too good... STAY AWAY FROM INK PINTER UNLESS YOU WANT TO DIE.
