That “Don’t Starve To-Get-Her” was actually genius

16:42 When Maxwell says "put her back in the headlines" he also isnt lying. I'm pretty sure you can see newspapers swirling around her talking of her disappearance. So, she technically made the headlines for a final time due to her vanishing.

"This entire deal turns out to be a scam as the portal takes him to The Constant and now Wilson is too stupid to make a shovel without a science machine." That is the best thing I ever heard

What we learned from the various media surrounding DS and DST:
Maxwell canonically has a British accent, which we all know is the most evil of the accents.
Wes Adam&Eved crows into existence.

I believe Maxwell couldn't trap Witherstone again because he requires his victims to be willing to open the portal. When Wes saved him, he got the doll and shared a happy moment with his daughter, wich might have caused him to conclude that nothing Maxwell offers would be worth leaving his daughter behind.

In the original game it is implied that Maxwell’s motivation for bringing people into the constant is to find someone strong enough and determined enough to claim the throne and replace him.

Also, every player death in the constant is canon and dead survivors are throne back in as part of a purgatory. The constant is a sort of trial for the throne.

Maxwell’s annoyance with the survivors throughout adventure mode is an act. He is making them believe that getting closer to him means that they are winning when in reality he is tricking them into setting them free.

By killing the survivors repeatedly and making them hate him, he is giving them the motive to find him. Once they can’t kill him and they are stuck in a void, their only option is to let him go. He is the one bringing the game to check mate. He didn’t lose.

Maxwell actually kept all his deals. Wilson wanted knowledge, Maxwell gave him knowledge. Webber wanted to be normal, so he took him to the constant where giant spiders are a normal occurrence. Abigail wanted her sister back, he brought her back as a ghost. Wigfred wanted the whole world to be her stage and put her in the headlines, Maxwell brought her to the Constant where she can act out her role, her disappearance putting her in the headlines. Because of this Warly’s mother could’ve actually been cured and become independent again.

This is actually a really really good recap of the Don’t Starve (Together) lore, probably your best video to date (the Iceberg was really good too). The way you blend in comedy with it all is just sublime. The Don’t Starve lore has always been my favorite part of the game so it’s really nice that there’s a modern video explaining it. Also, genuinely never noticed that the original 8 survivors correspond to the 8 pawns on a chessboard and how Maxwell (the king) is a really weak piece with Charlie being really strong because she’s the queen.

the only thing i don't agree with is that Maxwell is pulling random people for "no reason".
That's actually not true. He is pulling them in, because he thinks they can free him. If you think about it, the characters he chose (except Wes) all have the abilities to free him. (Wilson and Winkerbotom have the inteligance to survive, Wolfgang has the strength to defeat anything, Willow is immune to fire and to the shadows, as long her teddy bear is with her, etc.)

I was just looking for a good, well detailed video on Don't Starve lore and how incredible was it to find this minutes old video from such a good channel

A thing to add is that since Maxwell basically does his end of the deal Warlys mother may be alive, so you know, theres that.

My favourite headcannon is that Wilbur is from the same circus as Wolfgang.

With Wilbur's circus-like attire, status, knowledge about using tools and machines. Leaves me to believe that Wilbur was one of the escaped circus monkies that the newspaper warned about.

Maxwell has a quote about Wilbur stating "Well I suppose theres no sending you back now." Which could mean that Maxwell accidently sent Wilbur in the constant, but in what way? Maybe when Maxwell was trying to get Wolfgang.
Also Wolfgang says this line aswell, "Welcome friend, Ha ha!" Which almost solidifies my theory. Wolfgang does call everyone friend, but i prefer that Wolfgang knew Wilbur.

I think it's worth pointing out that the makeshift portal that Charlie destroys in the comic was the portal used in the DST beta, which was then replaced with the floral portal when the game came out of beta, so even the DST beta was lore :D

I like how the same day as the full don't starve story a new animation drops to explain how Maxwell survived the train crash

24:10 that entire small segment gives me chills, it goes from maxwell being happy to being so terrified that he screams in agony, and that scream is what gets me, because he just got free from being stuck in that throne for eternity that he was happy, until it was quickly ripped away

I feel like Maxwell brought people in for company, or more likely, to free him from the throne, so that with his knowledge, Maxwell can fix this situation and free everyone. Then, his wish came true with Wilson before Charlie becomes queen. Still doesn’t excuse his actions though.

A couple details you missed out on, Charlie is free in this world because of the association to the chess board again. Charlie is the Queen piece, being the most important in raw power for chess. And Maxwell referring to "Them" is not the shadow creatures as you say in 25:52 but in fact more related to the moon, supported by the fact the Fuel Weaver, who is speculated to be one of the old rulers of the kingdom that has fallen to shadows, also refers to "Them" in his line of death "You are not Them" this means the shadow creatures are not "Them" but they definitely communicate with them in some way at some time. And the update of course named, "The Return of Them". They have always been here but the shadow creatures are completely different and are speculated to be some form of bug people who found refuge in using shadow fuel.

On the other hand with the Wolfgang lore I don't think it changes anything on the earlier parts of the story, more as reinforces what was already there. William Carter had to escape from his old life and so he went with the traveling circus to escape to San Francisco. That accident that happens just wants to highlight the fact he had the book during that time.

2:48 ooooh, that explains the Wolfgang video! We literally see what happens to William: Wolfgang saves him, with the help of William’s dark magic. If it weren’t for William and Wolfgang’s interaction, William may’ve never seen the true power of the shadow magic. That means… that Wolfgang was kinda William’s first experiment, by near accident. But no wonder people thought he was dead, he nearly was, then when he saw what he did to Wolfgang, he ran, considering the true power he held in his hands.

People have to be insane before Maxwell can use magic to pull them into the Constant. Just like in the game where you can only see shadows when insane. Everyone was going through a rough patch in their life and that's when Maxwell swoops in
